GRIM DAWN / FARMING / BEGINNER
Early Game Money (During Normal)
Early income comes from vendoring gear, not from the iron enemies drop directly. Fill your bags, rift back to town, sell, repeat - rare-affix pieces sell highest. Don't buy vendor gear; spend iron on stash tabs, components, and respecs. For a dedicated loop, Cronley's Hideout in Act 2 is the standard pick.

CHOOSE YOUR ROUTE
- ▸Broke? Fill your bags with gear, take a personal rift back to town, sell, and repeat - early on, vendoring beats the iron enemies drop directly.
- ▸What to pick up: magic (yellow) or better. Rare-affix pieces fetch the highest prices.
- ▸What to spend on: don't buy vendor gear. Reserve iron for shared-stash/stash-tab expansion, components, and respec costs - in that order.
- ▸Want a dedicated loop? Cronley's Hideout in Act 2 Arkovia: dense humanoid packs drop plenty of sellable gear, and the boss Darius Cronley can drop the Cronley's Signet MI.
- ▸Never sell crafting materials (Dynamite, Aether Crystals, and so on) - consolidate them in the shared stash (see the Crafting Material Routes article).
01 / INCOME-LOOP
The Vendoring Loop
The only prerequisite is reaching a town hub (Devil's Crossing). No level requirement.
- ▸Enemies drop only modest iron directly in the early maps - picking up and vendoring gear is your main income.
- ▸When your bags fill up, take a personal rift to town, sell the junk to an NPC merchant, and head back. Repeat the loop.
- ▸Gear with rarer affixes sells for more - given limited bag space, carry back the better-affixed pieces.
- ▸Common (white) gear is low-value bag clutter; restricting pickup to magic (yellow) or better is the standard rule.
- ▸There is no fixed end condition - once you're no longer broke, go back to normal progression.
02 / SPENDING
Spending Priorities
- ▸Don't buy vendor gear - drops and quest rewards cover the early game, and purchases obsolete quickly.
- ▸The standard priority: shared-stash/stash-tab expansion, then component crafting and blueprints, then a reserve for respec costs.
- ▸Respec costs rise purely with your cumulative refund count, so experimenting is cheapest early while the count is low (see the Respec article).
- ▸Faction augments and blueprints are Honored/Revered-tier - midgame spending. Ignore them for now (see the Components and Augments article).
03 / CRONLEY-ROUTE
The Standard Loop: Cronley's Hideout
Prerequisite: reach Arkovia in Act 2. Humanoid enemies drop plenty of gear, which suits the vendoring loop.
- ▸Start from the Riftgate inside the hideout (usable after first arrival). Fight through the Cronley's Gang humanoids to the back.
- ▸Target drops: sellable gear throughout, and the boss Darius Cronley can drop the Cronley's Signet MI.
- ▸On your first kill, don't miss the hidden room behind his bed (north side): it holds the Aether Crystal cluster tied to the quest Cronley's Secret (no source confirms it resets every run, so treat gear vendoring - not the crystals - as the repeatable income).
- ▸End condition: the boss is down. If your bags fill mid-run, breaking off to sell is fine.
- ▸You accumulate infamy with Cronley's Gang, but as a hostile faction there is no real downside (their highest-difficulty Nemesis is a much later concern).
04 / ALTERNATIVES-NOTES
Alternatives and Caveats
- ▸A dedicated loop is optional - quest progression itself supplies gear and iron, and looting as you go covers early expenses.
- ▸Never sell crafting materials like Dynamite and Aether Crystals - consolidate them in the shared stash for the blacksmith and shrine restorations (see Crafting Material Routes).
- ▸Per-run income varies with affix rolls; we make no efficiency guarantees.
- ▸Around Elite the vendor values rise and the money game changes (see Mid Game Money).
