Helldivers 2 Difficulty 10 Loadouts (Patch 7.0.2)

SHAREXFacebookLINE

Short answer: difficulty 10 does not throw new enemies at you. What it actually adds over difficulty 9 is a higher reward multiplier (250% → 300%) and Giant Outposts. The enemy roster is essentially complete by difficulty 8, and the wiki's difficulty table lists no new units for 9 or 10. So Super Helldive is not a knowledge problem — it is a sustained-damage problem and a role-coverage problem. Below are the numbers behind that claim and three faction loadouts built on them.

Written against patch 7.0.2 (25 August 2026). The balance baseline is 7.0.0 "Devoid of Liberty" (12 August 2026); both 7.0.1 (17 August) and 7.0.2 carry a Fixes section and nothing else, and 7.1 has not shipped as of this writing. Enemy and weapon figures come from helldivers.wiki.gg.

What difficulty 10 actually changes

DifficultyReward multiplierMain objectivesIntroduced at this tier
8 — Impossible+200%3–4A second operation modifier; Alpha Commander and Alpha Warrior
9 — Helldive+250%3–4No new enemies, no new outposts
10 — Super Helldive+300%3–4Giant Outposts

Samples do not scale with the top tiers either. Super Samples appear from difficulty 6 (Extreme) and rares from difficulty 4 (Challenging), so farming Supers is not a reason to drop into a Super Helldive. The reasons that survive scrutiny are the reward multiplier, the extra loot a Giant Outpost holds, and wanting the fight.

The variable that does bite is the second operation modifier, which arrives at difficulty 8. Draw two restrictive modifiers on the same operation and the same difficulty 10 mission demands different gear. Pick the operation first, then build the loadout. A fixed "best loadout" carried into every drop is the habit that fails hardest at this tier.

Cooldowns decide how much each slot is worth

You get four stratagem slots including your support weapon. At difficulty 10 the question for each slot is how many times you can fire it during one engagement, not how much damage it does on paper. Cooldowns confirmed on wiki.gg (all shorten further with ship module upgrades):

StratagemCodeCooldownRole in one engagement
EAT-17 Expendable Anti-TankDown, Down, Left, Up, Right70s — two launchers per callAvailable every engagement. Throw it whenever a heavy walks in
Orbital Railcannon StrikeRight, Up, Down, Down, Right180sOne trump card per fight
Eagle AirstrikeUp, Right, Down, Right15s — two uses per rearmYour outpost-clearing and crowd-clearing workhorse
GR-8 Recoilless RifleDown, Left, Right, Right, Left480sCarry it all mission; go back for it when you die
AC-8 AutocannonDown, Left, Down, Up, Up, Right480sSame

A 480-second cooldown does not mean one support weapon per mission — a full-length operation has room for several calls. What it does mean is that once you lose yours and cannot recover it, the next one is up to eight minutes away, and those eight minutes will not wait for the heavies to stop arriving. So spend that slot on whatever threat is most numerous for the faction you are fighting, and let the 70-second EAT-17 and the 180-second Railcannon handle the one-off heavies.

On the Railcannon specifically: it deals 10,000 damage at Anti-Tank III penetration and auto-targets the largest nearby enemy, which comfortably kills a 6,500-health Bile Titan. But the wiki is explicit that it cannot reliably one-shot Factory Striders, Hive Lords or Leviathans, and cannot target Leviathans at all. Build a loadout that assumes "Railcannon deletes anything big" and you are empty-handed the moment one of those three shows up.

Terminids: end Bile Titans at the head

Stratagem 2EAT-17Two launchers every 70s; covers the Recoilless reload window
Stratagem 3Eagle AirstrikeCloses bug holes from a safe distance
Stratagem 4Orbital Railcannon StrikeInsurance for when two Titans overlap

A Bile Titan has 6,500 main health and a 1,500-health head, both Heavy (AV4) — but its underside is 4,000 health at Light (AV2). The wiki states plainly that the GR-8 Recoilless Rifle and the EAT-17 can kill it with a single shot to the head. At difficulty 10, with Titans arriving in pairs, you rarely have the seconds it takes to flank for the belly, so carry two separate anti-tank options that work from the front. If you are out of rockets, the bile sacs (750 each, unarmored) are worth stripping — destroying them removes the spew attacks outright.

For armor, Scout is the safe default: "Markers placed on the map will generate radar scans every 2.0s. Reduces range at which enemies can detect the wearer by 30%." Fewer detections means fewer breaches, which is the single most expensive thing that happens at this tier. If you are the dedicated Recoilless carrier instead, True Grit — "Increases reload speed of support weapons by 30%" — is the better fit.

Automatons: the weak points are small, so stay able to hit them

SlotPickWhy
PrimaryR-36 Eruptor230 impact + 225 explosion + 30 shrapnel at 110 each, Heavy penetration on the projectile. A single round destroys a Fabricator, so you never have to enter the base
Support weaponAC-8 AutocannonAPHET at 325 ballistic + 150 explosion, Heavy penetration; flak mode handles Gunships

Armor passiveUnflinching, or FortifiedStop flinching under fire, or −30% crouched/prone recoil and 50% explosive resistance
BoosterVitality EnhancementPulls rocket hits back from the instant-death line
Stratagem 1(support weapon slot)See above
Stratagem 2EAT-17The Autocannon eats your backpack slot, so anti-tank has to come from somewhere
Stratagem 3Eagle AirstrikeDestroys Fabricators from outside the base
Stratagem 4Orbital Railcannon StrikeFor Hulks and Tanks — not as a Factory Strider answer

Automaton weak points — heads on the humanoids, the rear heat sink on Hulks and other non-humanoids — are thinly armored and lethal when broken. The catch is that they are small, and incoming fire pushes your aim off them. That is why Unflinching ("Helps prevent Helldivers from flinching when hit. Provides a higher armor rating.") and Fortified ("Further reduces recoil when crouching or prone by 30%. Provides 50% resistance to explosive damage.") outperform any raw damage upgrade on this front.

One constraint worth stating outright: the Autocannon occupies the backpack slot, so it cannot be run alongside a Shield Generator Pack. We covered how to build around that in Autocannon and Shield Pack Cannot Be Worn Together.

Illuminate: the Void units demand damage that never pauses

The Void biome added in 7.0.0 brings two units from the Illuminate subfaction the wiki calls the Vote Snatchers. Both break habits carried over from earlier Illuminate fights.

  • Crusher — 6,000 main health. Its helmet is Heavy (AV4) at 300, and the head underneath is unarmored at 300. Critically, every part except the helmet and head regenerates 30 health per second, starting 0.5 seconds after it last took damage. Pause and you lose ground. Break the helmet with a heavy-penetration weapon (AC-8 Autocannon, RS-422 Railgun) and headshot the exposed head. The wiki notes that a single G-123 Thermite grenade kills it.
  • Wretch — 450 main health, almost entirely Very Light (AV1), but its two blade claws are Medium (AV3) at 200 each and its four arms 50 each. Decapitation does not stop it; you have to take the limbs. It dodges, flanks around cover and pounces, has a high stun threshold of 20, and takes 1.5× damage from fire. High-DPS machine guns or fire weapons are the reliable answer.
SlotPickWhy
PrimaryFLAM-66 TorcherThe wiki names it directly as a fire answer to Wretches, which take 1.5× damage from fire — and it stalls the swarm behind them
Support weaponAC-8 AutocannonCracks Crusher helmets and strips Harvester shields with flak in one slot
GrenadeG-123 ThermiteOne grenade per Crusher
Armor passiveScout, or UnflinchingSee them before the street closes, or keep shooting once it has
BoosterVitality EnhancementAgainst chip damage from Voteless swarms
Stratagem 1(support weapon slot)See above
Stratagem 2Eagle AirstrikeClears a street packed with Voteless
Stratagem 3Eagle Napalm Airstrike7.0.0 widened its explosion radius from 8m to 10m — good for sealing alleys
Stratagem 4Orbital Railcannon StrikeFor Harvesters. Remember it cannot target Leviathans

Two things about Harvesters bear directly on this loadout. Only one of its three shield generators has to be destroyed to disable the shield permanently, and the wiki singles out shrapnel-producing explosives — the R-36 Eruptor and the AC-8 Autocannon in flak mode — as the cheapest way to strip it. Once it is down, each of the three hip joints (1,000 health, Medium) falls to a single rocket from an EAT-17 or a GR-8. The full health and armor breakdown, and the rest of the Illuminate roster, live in Helldivers 2 Illuminate Weak Points.

Four things 7.0.0 changed that matter at difficulty 10

  1. Assisted reload was reworked. It used to require a dedicated teammate carrying the backpack. As of 7.0.0, "Helldivers can now assist reload as long as one of the wielder and/or reloader of the weapon has the correct backpack" — you keep your own backpack and still get helped. The GR-8's reload drops from 6.1s to 1.7s assisted, which more than triples your throughput when heavies arrive back to back.
  2. Eagle Napalm Airstrike got bigger. Explosion radius went from 8m to 10m with a more spread-out bomb pattern. Burning a breach point or an alley is now a real use of the slot.
  3. MD-17 Anti-Tank Mines went from 30 to 40 demolition strength. The patch notes state the intent directly: the mines now work "in more situations like destroying colony walls and bug holes from the outside." Mines count as outpost clearance now.
  4. Three small quality-of-life changes that cut deaths. Heavy landing recovery is about 40% shorter (1.32s → 0.8s); a stim press you could not act on is buffered for up to 2 seconds and fires as soon as it is legal; short magazines gained spare ammo (Liberator family 12 → 16 spare and 7 → 9 starting, Breaker family 9 → 11 and 6 → 7). At difficulty 10 these show up directly in your death count.

Split the four roles — do not bring four of the same build

Squads stall at difficulty 10 in one of two ways: everyone brought anti-tank and nothing clears the swarm, or everyone brought crowd control and nothing kills the heavies. Fill these four roles once each before optimizing anything:

This guide assumes a full squad of four. Dropping alone removes the premise entirely — see Solo Loadouts for Difficulty 7 and Above for that case. For a deeper dive on one faction, see our Terminid build and Automaton build.

  • Anti-tank — GR-8 Recoilless Rifle or Quasar Cannon. After the assisted-reload rework, standing next to this player is worth more than it used to be.
  • Crowd control — machine guns and fire weapons. Skip this role against the Illuminate and the city blocks close on you.
  • Outpost demolition — AC-8 Autocannon, Grenade Launcher, Eagle Airstrike. The Giant Outposts that difficulty 10 adds are for the player who can destroy structures from outside them, not for the squad to walk into.
  • Insurance — Orbital Railcannon Strike, Shield Generator Pack, Resupply. Two players carrying the 180-second Railcannon covers each other's cooldown gap.

Beyond gear, at difficulty 10 your mission length is mostly a function of how many times you let a breach get called. Terminids have many units that can call for reinforcements, down to the small ones, and staggering them mid-animation cancels the call. Automaton patrols fire a flare before a dropship arrives, so once the flare is up, giving up the position is usually cheaper than winning the fight. Against the Illuminate, killing Watchers first is the whole game.

Last: samples only count if you extract with them. A +300% multiplier is worth nothing on a failed extraction. Asked to choose between one more Giant Outpost and a clean exit, take the exit — it is the higher average return.

Three things older guides still get wrong

  • Difficulty 9 is not the cap. Difficulty 10, Super Helldive, is, at a +300% reward multiplier.
  • The Orbital Railcannon does not one-shot everything large. The wiki lists Factory Striders, Hive Lords and Leviathans as unreliable kills, with Leviathans not targetable at all.
  • Super Samples are not gated behind difficulty 10. They start at difficulty 6. Guides that send new players straight to Super Helldive for Supers are sending them for the wrong reason.
