All Eight Soul Splinters and How Fusion Works
Soul Splinters are special gems in Season of Hell's Legacy that you slot into jewelry, up to three at a time. This patch 3.2.1 reference covers all eight names, the demon each is tied to, the rarities they drop at, and how fusion works in the Horadric Cube. Per-splinter effect values are not published yet, so they are not listed here.
You can equip up to three Soul Splinters across your available jewelry slots. They drop as Magic, Rare, Legendary, or Unique, and fusing in the Horadric Cube raises a splinter of the same type by one rarity step. They are a separate system from the three Splinters of Evil (Terror, Destruction, Hatred) — do not confuse the two.
The Eight Soul Splinters
8Splinter of Anguish (Andariel)
Tied to Andariel, the Maiden of Anguish. Blizzard has not published its effect or values, so they will be added once confirmed in game.
Splinter of Sin (Azmodan)
Tied to Azmodan, the Lord of Sin. Its effect and values are not published.
Splinter of Lies (Belial)
Tied to Belial, the Lord of Lies. Its effect and values are not published.
Splinter of the Black Soulstone
The only one of the eight tied to a relic rather than a specific demon. Its effect and values are not published.
Splinter of Pain (Duriel)
Tied to Duriel, the Lord of Pain. Its effect and values are not published.
Splinter of the Mother (Lilith)
Tied to Lilith, Mother of Sanctuary. Its effect and values are not published.
Splinter of Hellfire (Na-Krul)
Tied to Na-Krul. Its effect and values are not published.
Splinter of Damnation (Skarn)
Tied to Skarn. Its effect and values are not published.
Rarity and Fusion
3They drop at four rarities
Soul Splinters drop as Magic, Rare, Legendary, or Unique. The rarity is determined when the splinter drops.
Raise one step in the Horadric Cube
Using a fusion in the Horadric Cube upgrades a Soul Splinter of the same type by one rarity step. Blizzard does not describe fusing across different types.
Collecting duplicates is the point
Because the upgrade works on the same type, strengthening a specific splinter means collecting duplicates of it. Think twice before salvaging low-rarity splinters — they are fusion material.
How to Slot Them
3Up to three jewelry slots
You can equip up to three across your available jewelry slots. They compete with whatever you already run in those slots.
Benefit and risk together
Blizzard describes Soul Splinters as double-edged: they grant powerful benefits but carry danger. Do not assume equipping one is a pure upgrade — confirm how it behaves before committing to it.
Separate from the Splinters of Evil
The Splinters of Evil (Terror, Destruction, Hatred) are a seasonal progression system — one at a time, swapped at the largest Waking Nightmare. Soul Splinters go in jewelry and are a separate system; they do not share slots.
What This Page Does Not Cover Yet
4The official season overview lists the names only. Rather than filling the gaps with guesswork, the items below are held back until they can be confirmed in game.
- The individual effect of each of the eight. The official season overview lists names only, so effects will be added after checking the in-game text.
- Per-rarity values. How the effect scales from Magic to Unique has not been published.
- Recommended three-splinter setups. Ranking combinations before the effects are known would be guesswork, so it is omitted.
- Where fusions come from and how many are needed. The official overview does not say.
Common Mistakes
4- Treating the Splinters of Evil (Terror, Destruction, Hatred) and Soul Splinters as the same thing. The former is seasonal progression, the latter is jewelry gems — different swapping rules, different slots.
- Salvaging low-rarity splinters immediately. They are fusion material for the same type, so keep the ones you are chasing.
- Assuming any splinter is a straight upgrade. Blizzard explicitly calls them double-edged.
- Trusting effect tables from other sites without sources. Estimates circulate right after a season launches — check the in-game text.
