What Charms and Relics do
Charms and Relics are socketable items that add bonuses to compatible equipment. A fragment already provides a bonus; combining three matching fragments completes the item and adds a completion bonus. Use the tooltip on the exact Charm or Relic before choosing equipment, because its compatible equipment, values, and completion bonus can differ.
For farming, treat Charms as creature-linked drops and Relics as Chapter-linked drops only as a working tendency, not a fixed table. Current patch notes show exceptions and broader drop access, including lower chances from lower tier enemies and later Chapters.
Early Access scope and build status
This draft covers Content Update 7 through Chapter 4, Wild Lands. The last official announcement that published a complete build string was Hotfix 3, 0.6.0-public.133316+win.2810, on July 17, 2026.
A further hotfix was announced on July 22 without a complete build string. The current executable build is therefore in-game confirmation required. This article records the last fully identified official build instead of guessing a newer number, remains draft, and has not been marked verified.
What to check before using one
Keep the Charm or Relic tooltip visible and inspect the base bonus, fragment count, completion bonus, and compatible equipment before changing your gear. The exact current tooltip labels and compatible equipment for each item are in-game confirmation required.
You also need matching fragments of the same type to complete one. Do not combine items merely because both are Charms or both are Relics; the official system description requires three fragments of the same type.
The three-fragment progression and completion bonus
At one matching fragment, the fragment already grants its listed bonus. At two matching fragments, the item is still incomplete. At three matching fragments, the completed item gains an additional bonus.
The completion bonus is not a universal stat. Read the effect on the exact item you found. The exact current tooltip label, individual values, and current bonus of every Charm and Relic are in-game confirmation required, especially after balance updates.
Where to look without relying on a fixed drop table
Charms are associated with creatures: the official introduction describes creature-appropriate drops, and later notes say their distribution across creatures can be revised. Use the creature link as a starting clue, then confirm the current source for the specific Charm in-game.
Relics are associated with the Chapter in which they first appear, where their chance is higher, but that boundary is not absolute. Official notes state that Relics from earlier Chapters can also drop in later Chapters at a lower rate. Content Update 7 also allows Relics to drop from lower tier enemies at a lower chance.
Content Update 7 made Charms and Relics additional drops rather than letting them consume one of an enemy's random item slots. No official numeric drop rates are used here. Exact item-by-item sources, eligible enemy pools, and drop-rate values are in-game confirmation required.
A practical use workflow
First, identify the exact Charm or Relic and read every line of its tooltip. Second, compare its listed base bonus with the needs of the equipment and character you are currently using. Third, keep matching fragments until you can evaluate the completed item rather than judging only the first fragment. Fourth, confirm that the target equipment is compatible, then socket the item using the current in-game interface.
The precise current controls for combining, socketing, or manually unsocketing are in-game confirmation required. Content Update 7 does confirm one safety behavior: attempting to sell equipment with a socketed Charm or Relic automatically unsockets it and sells only the base item.
Charm or Relic: a decision guide
Choose what to keep by effect and equipment compatibility, not by category name alone. Favor a Charm when its creature-linked source is practical for your current route and its displayed bonuses fit a compatible item. Favor a Relic when its displayed effects fit your setup and you are already progressing through or revisiting the Chapter tied to its higher chance.
If the tooltip does not support the equipment you planned to use, keep the upgrade for another compatible item. If only an older farming guide claims a fixed Chapter-exclusive source, follow the current patch behavior instead: later-Chapter and lower-tier exceptions mean the old table may be incomplete.
Common mistakes and failure cases
Do not assume every Charm or Relic fits every equipment type. Do not treat the first fragment's bonus as the finished result. Do not infer a numeric drop rate from words such as lower chance. Do not discard later-Chapter drops because an older table assigns a Relic to an earlier Chapter.
Do not copy exact values or sources from an older patch without checking the current tooltip. Early Access updates have already changed names, compatible equipment, distribution, effects, and completion bonuses.
What to recheck after an update
Recheck this guide whenever patch notes mention Items, Charms, Relics, sockets, completion bonuses, creature distribution, Chapter distribution, or drop behavior. The most sensitive claims are individual compatible equipment, exact bonuses, exact completion bonuses, and item-specific sources.
Before publication, confirm the current executable build in-game and replace every unresolved in-game confirmation required item with direct play evidence or retain draft status. Do not update only the build field without rechecking the affected mechanics.
