Deathtoll Chamber and Superior Key Farming Guide
A patch 3.1.1 guide to both entry routes, the timed one-room encounter, Risen combat, and using Superior Lair Keys for the Corrupted Reaper.
For deterministic access, complete a Colossal Rupture, defeat its Realmwalker, and take the portal. The second route is a Nightmare Dungeon with the Rupture affix, where sealing enough Tears unlocks the Chamber. Inside, activate the central pillar, kill rapidly to expand the ritual circle, and intercept orbs moving toward the Exarch.
Two Entry Routes
2Realmwalker Portal
Complete a Mastery Surging Rupture and win its spawn roll, or finish a Colossal Rupture to guarantee a Realmwalker. The portal opened after the kill leads to the Chamber; choose Colossal when deterministic access matters.
Rupture-affix Nightmare Dungeon
Enter a Nightmare Dungeon carrying the Rupture affix and seal enough Tears within its Ruptures to unlock the Chamber. Use this route when you want to overlap Superior Key farming with normal Nightmare Dungeon goals such as Glyph progress.
Five Steps Inside
51. Prepare Before the Pillar
The Chamber is a one-room encounter rather than an exploration dungeon. Before activating the central pillar, ready major cooldowns, resources, potions, and positioning.
2. Activate and Read the Timer
Current live guides agree on a 60-second event, but Blizzard's Season 14 article does not publish a fixed duration. Treat the timer shown in game as authoritative in case tuning changes.
3. Expand the Inner Circle
Rapid kills expand the inner ritual circle. For the bonus payout, maintain kill pace until it reaches the outer circle; avoid chasing isolated targets and place area damage on fresh spawn clusters.
4. Intercept Gravehound Orbs
Killed Gravehounds release orbs toward the Exarch. Cross each orb's path and collect it first so the Exarch cannot gain its powerful attack and slow the clear.
5. Claim Rewards and Exit
Collect the completion rewards, then use the dungeon exit to return to the originating route. Patch 3.1.0 fixed post-clear trapping, incorrect return locations, disabled Leave Dungeon, and Nightmare Dungeon completion issues.
Route Priorities
4Deterministic Key Access
Prioritize Colossal Rupture → Realmwalker → Deathtoll Chamber. A Mastery Surging Rupture still rolls the Realmwalker, so do not count it as deterministic access.
Overlap Nightmare Dungeon Goals
When a Sigil has the Rupture affix, combine normal dungeon progress with a Chamber run. A Sigil without that affix does not provide this route, so inspect it before activation.
Below Torment I
You can run the encounter and earn its normal rewards, but Superior Keys open the Corrupted Reaper's Hoard only in Torment I or higher. Prioritize repeated key farming after reaching the tier where you can spend them.
Solo and Group
Solo runs favor area clear, mobility, and immediate damage. In groups, split spawn coverage and orb interception instead of chasing one target together. Blizzard has not published detailed party reward eligibility, so this guide does not assert it.
Rewards and Their Use
3Primary Goal: Superior Lair Keys
Blizzard identifies the Chamber as the best source of Superior Lair Keys. Patch 3.1.1 guarantees at least one at high Torment, but the patch note does not name the exact Torment threshold.
Open the Corrupted Reaper Hoard
After the seasonal questline kill, repeat the Corrupted Reaper at the Pandemonium Threshold in Zarbinzet. Spend Superior Keys on its Torment I+ Hoard to reach the primary direct chase for Mythic Uniques and Pandemonium Fragments.
Reputation Is a Secondary Key Source
Glints of Hope belong to the outer Rupture reputation route. After the July 21 hotfix, the final repeatable cache also supplies Superior Keys. Treat it as a secondary source without claiming that the Chamber directly guarantees Glints or Fragments.
Common Mistakes
4- Do not expect a Realmwalker Chamber route from a Normal Rupture; Normal cannot summon one.
- Do not count the legacy Betrayer's Husk label as a second material; the live 3.1.0+ name is Superior Lair Key.
- Do not extend the high-Torment guarantee to every Torment I+ run; Blizzard does not publish the exact threshold.
- This guide excludes reset and party-transfer exploits and covers only the intended complete, exit, and re-enter loop.
Patch 3.1.x Checks
3- Patch 3.1.0 fixed post-clear trapping, incorrect exit destinations, unavailable Leave Dungeon, and Nightmare Dungeon completion tracking.
- Patch 3.1.1 guarantees at least one Superior Lair Key from Deathtoll Chambers at high Torment levels.
- The July 21 server hotfix added Superior Lair Keys to the final repeatable Glints of Hope cache.
