Controls, Map Navigation, Accessibility, and Performance Settings
Tune keyboard, mouse, controller, map pins, navigation aids, readability, and rendering load one problem and one setting at a time.
Record the baseline. For input, test bindings, toggles, and target lock; for navigation, quest tracking, pins, compass, and audio guidance; for readability, highlights, text, cursor, and loot audio; for performance, resolution, upscaling, shadows, and effects one at a time. Do not assume a Map Overlay exists—use current pins and route guidance.
Five Safe Setup Steps
5Record the Baseline
Record settings, symptom, location, input device, and perceived frame rate or latency.
Classify One Problem
Separate input, navigation, readability, audio, rendering load, and network latency.
Change One Setting
Change one likely cause before applying a whole preset.
Retest in the Same Place
Retest in the same town, dense fight, boss, or travel segment.
Keep a Reversible Baseline
Revert ineffective changes and keep only improvements and device-specific bindings.
Decision Checks
5Keyboard, Mouse, and Controller
Reduce misinputs and hold fatigue.
Check remapping, Skill and Action Wheel toggles, stick swap, and persistent target lock.
Move Evade, Potion, main Skill, and movement one binding at a time.
Stop when simultaneous device changes hide the cause.
Even with expansion systems, prioritize reliable use of the core six Skills.
Base-game-only play uses the same input aids.
Map Pins, Routes, and Compass
Travel without losing the destination.
Check tracked quest, Auto-Pin, minimap route, Compass, and audio navigation.
Track one objective and verify whether the manual pin or guidance fits the terrain.
Stop trusting straight-line distance across floors or locked areas.
Use current HUD compass and tracking in Skovos and Temis.
Use the same pins and route guidance in base-game regions.
Text, Cursor, Highlights, and Loot Audio
Identify enemies, interactables, and gear during combat.
Check text size, subtitles, cursor, target outlines, and gear-rarity audio.
Increase color, size, or audio only for missed targets without adding excess noise.
Stop when color changes make enemies, allies, or hazards harder to distinguish.
Apply the same readability checks to Charms, Seals, and expansion events.
Base-game-only play shares the accessibility settings.
Rendering Load and Frame Drops
Separate image quality from input-response bottlenecks.
Inspect resolution, upscaler, shadows, reflections, effects, textures, and V-Sync in the live menu.
Lower one likely heavy setting in a dense fight and note restart, VRAM, and memory impact.
Stop treating network lag, disconnects, or input faults as graphics-only problems.
Compare the same scene in new regions or large events.
Use the same comparison in dense base-game events.
Safe Reset and Isolation
Return unknown changes to defaults and create a reproducible baseline.
Save screenshots of device bindings, accessibility, and graphics settings.
Reset only the affected category and restore changes one by one after restart.
Stop if account, character, or save deletion is being confused with settings reset.
Recheck expansion UI unlock state after login.
Use the same restore order with base-game settings.
Settings Boundaries
6- No unverified Map Overlay or hidden setting is assumed.
- Names and locations vary by platform and patch; the live menu wins.
- Change one setting at a time to preserve cause and side effects.
- Do not treat network latency and rendering frame loss as the same symptom.
- No fixed FPS, universal optimal value, or permanent performance preset is guaranteed.
- Personal comfort is authoritative for visual, hearing, and motor accessibility.
Current Settings Checks
4- Remapping, toggles, stick swap, and persistent target lock are available.
- Auto-Pin, audio navigation, and Compass support pinned destinations.
- Accessibility options such as Chromatic Aberration continue to be added or fixed.
- Current patches update GPU upscaler support; verify official requirements.
