Divine Lance Paladin Leveling Build
A level 1–70 setup that uses Advance and Rally for Faith and movement, then rapidly casts a Zealot-tagged Divine Lance. It adds Lord of Hatred Oaths, Talismans, and Runewords plus Vessel of Hatred Mercenaries included with the expansion as they unlock.
Why This Is the Beginner Baseline
2Strengths
- Divine Lance and three Auras combine mobility, pack clear, and defense on one bar.
- No Unique is required; the route works by scaling the Zealot Oath and Critical Strikes.
- Keeping Divine Lance enables a clean transition into Zealot endgame setups at level 70.
Limitations
- Early Faith is limited, so Divine Lance must be supported by Advance and Rally.
- Paladin itself requires Lord of Hatred; there is no base-game version of this class build.
- External leveling times and high-difficulty claims are not treated as guarantees.
Final Six-Skill Setup
6Target Rank is the base-skill goal at level 70; spend remaining points on the chosen branch modifiers as they unlock.
Advance
Basic attack for Faith, engagement, and maintaining Fervor.
Divine Lance
Main Core attack; its Zealous Duel variant adds the Zealot tag and wider strikes.
Fanaticism Aura
Primary Aura converting Faith spending into Attack Speed and Critical Chance.
Defiance Aura
Defensive Aura supporting Armor, Resistances, healing, and Resolve.
Holy Light Aura
Provides passive area damage plus an active chain burst and Fortify.
Rally
Charged mobility skill restoring Faith while increasing Movement Speed.
Oaths
3Setup checklist
- At level 15, select the Zealot Oath. Zealotry Core attacks build Fervor, increasing their additional hits on Critical Strikes.
- Divine Lance becomes a Zealot skill through Zealous Duel; the Oath does not fully support the main attack before that variant is selected.
- Use Advance to refresh Fervor duration and convert excess Fervor at maximum stacks into Fortify.
Lord of Hatred Leveling Setup
3Talisman
- During leveling, prioritize a Legendary Seal with more Charm Slots, then seek experience, Movement Speed, and Zealot/Core ranks.
- Use Cathan's Dauntless Faith pieces as they drop, but do not keep weak Charms merely to rush the five-piece.
- A Unique Charm with Griswold's Opus is ideal in slot six; during leveling, substitute Critical, Attack Speed, or Resistance bonuses.
Runewords
- Cir + Gar generates Offering after five skill casts and builds Critical Strike Chance.
- Moni + Qua converts two Mobility casts into an Evade charge and Movement Speed.
- Before Runewords unlock, use Skull in weapons, Ruby in armor, and Diamond in jewelry.
Mercenary
- Hire Raheir with Ground Slam, Raheir's Aegis, Bastion, and Inspiration for defense and damage support.
- Use Varyana's Bloodthirst as Reinforcement, triggered on Skill Cast for more Attack Speed.
- Mercenaries unlock through the included Vessel of Hatred progression; the six-skill loop remains unchanged before then.
Paladin requires Lord of Hatred. This build cannot be reproduced without the expansion; choose a base-game class guide if you need a similar fast melee route.
Level-by-Level Priorities
4Build the Advance–Divine Lance loop
- Take Advance, unlock Divine Lance, and prioritize it as the main attack. Return to Advance before Faith empties.
- Add Rally early and spend charges while moving to refill Faith.
Connect the Zealot Oath
- At level 15, select the Zealot Oath and take Divine Lance's Zealous Duel variant.
- Add Fanaticism Aura and Defiance Aura for Faith-spend speed scaling and defense.
Complete three Auras and expansion systems
- Add Holy Light Aura and layer the three Aura actives into dense packs.
- Add Runewords, Talismans, and Mercenaries as they unlock; prioritize strong individual upgrades over forced sets.
Stabilize Criticals and Faith
- Improve Attack Speed, Critical Chance/Damage, Cooldown Reduction, and Movement Speed to reduce builder casts.
- Fill Armor, Resistances, Maximum Life, and Maximum Resolve; do not chase unnecessary endgame Uniques before level 70.
Simple Combat Loop
4- Use Rally while traveling to maintain Faith and Movement Speed.
- Engage with Advance to build Fervor, then activate Fanaticism Aura to Weaken enemies.
- Layer Defiance Aura and Holy Light Aura into dangerous packs, then spam Divine Lance.
- Return to Rally or Advance before Faith empties, preserving Fervor and Aura passives.
Use Hard as the baseline and lower to Normal for Faith droughts, repeated deaths, or long elite fights. Do not raise difficulty when it reduces clear speed.
What to Keep While Leveling
3Affix priorities
- Prioritize Weapon Damage and Item Power; use whichever strong drop you find between one-hand plus shield and two-hand.
- Seek Strength, Attack Speed, Critical Chance/Damage, and Core ranks; add Cooldown Reduction and Movement Speed for comfort.
- Refill Maximum Life, Armor, All Resistances, and Maximum Resolve after gear swaps.
Helpful Aspects—not requirements
Low-level gear is replaced quickly, so avoid overspending scarce materials. Aspect names without current primary or designated-wiki verification are explicitly marked provisional in Japanese.
Safe Alternatives
3Adjust without breaking the build
- For angel-form play, Mobalytics' Arbiter of Justice route is a separate archetype; do not mix its skill package into this Zealot Divine Lance setup.
- For a more melee-focused route, Icy Veins' Zeal leveling build is an alternative; swap the complete Core and gearing priorities together.
- If defenses are weak, switch from a two-hander to one-hand plus shield and prioritize Armor and Resistances over offensive Aspects.
