WHY PLAYERS GET STUCK
The names alone do not explain the impact: this changes gear, augments, quests, and hostile factions. Necromancer-related characters may also run into selection restrictions.
WALKTHROUGH
- 1After reaching Homestead, talk to both envoys
- ▸Act 3 introduces the choice between Kymon's Chosen and Order of Death's Vigil.
- ▸You join one side and become hostile to the other.
- 2Choose based on desired augments and gear
- ▸Kymon's Chosen often fits fire/lightning/melee contexts.
- ▸Order of Death's Vigil often fits vitality/cold/pet/necro contexts.
- ▸For a final build, follow the faction required by the build guide.
- 3Progress quests and reputation for the chosen faction
- ▸After joining, that faction's quests, vendors, and augments open up.
- ▸The opposing side appears as enemies; hostile reputation contributes to Nemesis spawns.
STILL LOST?
If unsure, choose the side that sells the augments/gear your build needs. As a rough memory aid: Kymon's leans offensive melee/fire/lightning, Death's Vigil leans necro/vitality/pet contexts.
The choice is per difficulty, not account-wide. You can choose differently on another difficulty.
