Albrecht's Aether Ray Spellbinder
A channeling Spellbinder built around piercing Albrecht's Aether Ray (AAR), with Spectral Wrath and Widow reducing enemy aether resistance. Level with the target-farmable Pulsing Shard for sustain, then complete conversion, leech, and cast speed at level 94. Success depends on knowing when to channel and when to rotate defensive cooldowns.
Albrecht's Aether Ray
Ultimate campaign, roguelike dungeons, and around SR65 with completed gear. SR75+ is not guaranteed and depends on gear rolls, piloting, and mutators.

Skills & Priorities
12Main damage skill. Cast speed increases its hit rate and the beam pierces enemies. Skill-specific leech from Pulsing Shard or endgame gear is central to sustain.
Adds damage and critical damage to AAR, but also raises energy drain; stabilize AAR and energy regeneration first.
Permanent damage reduction while channeling in place.
Exclusive skill that boosts aether damage and cast speed, improving both AAR damage and tick rate.
Raises Spirit and OA, helping equipment requirements, damage, and critical chance.
Adds health and OA; retaliation on being hit reduces nearby aether resistance and stacks with Widow.
Short invulnerability window used to negate bursts or create safe channel time.
Transfers incoming damage to a marked enemy. Alternate it with Mirror rather than overlapping them.
Removes dangerous enemy buffs and removable debuffs from you; one point is functional.
Spreads fear and damage reduction through packs, reducing pressure before enemies close in.
Early leveling AoE or a support source of enemy damage reduction through Decay. Trim after AAR is established.
Balances energy regeneration, OA, cast speed, and skill cost. Invest until AAR can be sustained continuously.
Devotion Route (In Order)
8- 1.Take one green Crossroads point and complete Bat. Bind Twin Fangs to Ravenous Earth or another frequent trigger for early sustain.
- 2.Take one blue Crossroads point and complete Sailor's Guide for movement speed plus physical and freeze resistance, then refund the blue Crossroads point.
- 3.Complete Imp and bind Aetherfire to Ill Omen or another skill that tags whole packs.
- 4.[Core] Complete Widow and bind Arcane Bomb to AAR. Its aether resistance reduction lands on bosses and is the damage cornerstone.
- 5.[Core] Complete Ghoul — its automatic emergency heal buys time to use Mirror of Ereoctes or Mark of Torment; bind it to any permanent buff. Then complete Jackal as an affinity bridge.
- 6.[Core] Complete Revenant and bind Raise the Dead to a convenient support skill; the summons apply flat resistance reduction and the nodes add slow resistance. Complete Eel and Lizard as affinity bridges.
- 7.[Core] Complete Spear of the Heavens. The proc triggers when you are hit, so any regularly used skill works as its binding. This is the top aether damage constellation.
- 8.[Core] Complete Aeon's Hourglass through Time Dilation, then finish with the first three Wendigo nodes. Refund the initial green Crossroads point and the map lands on exactly 55 points (Bat 5 + Sailor's Guide 4 + Imp 5 + Widow 6 + Ghoul 5 + Jackal 3 + Revenant 6 + Eel 3 + Lizard 3 + Spear 6 + Aeon 6 + Wendigo 3). Bind Time Dilation to a movement rune or another frequently used skill so it reliably resets Mirror and Mark.
Gear
- ▸Ravenous Earth can carry the early game. After unlocking AAR, prioritize energy regeneration and cast speed; use Ectoplasm in jewelry until continuous channeling is comfortable.
- ▸Target-farm Pulsing Shard from The Amalgamation in the Gruesome Harvest. Its AAR-specific life steal is the main leveling sustain tool.
- ▸Pulsing Shard is the sustain choice; Fleshwarped Tome is the conversion choice. They compete for the same off-hand slot, so favor sustain before level 94.
- ▸Prioritize aether damage, cast speed, energy regeneration, and resistances on faction gear, MIs, and components. Upgrade from Haunt toward Agrivix's Malice or a suitable endgame relic.
- ▸The reference endpoint is a level-94 Clairvoyant-style setup. Treat AAR conversion, skill-specific leech, and near-200% cast speed as one package rather than chasing the set bonus alone.
- ▸Options include Mythical Essence of the Grim Dawn, Mythical Aetherreach, Fleshwarped Tome, Albrecht's Duality, and Eternal Haunt. Recalculate slot conflicts and conversion in Grim Tools instead of mixing items by name.
- ▸Pulsing Shard remains a strong defensive option. Fettan Mask, two-piece Krieg combinations, and faction gear are transition pieces, not mandatory items that should break the final setup.
- ▸Take enough Spirit for equipment, then put the remainder into Physique. Use components and augments to repair OA/DA, health, armor absorption, cast speed, and energy regeneration.
Playstyle & Notes
- ▸Tag packs with Ill Omen or Ravenous Earth, then channel AAR through enemies affected by Widow and Spectral Wrath.
- ▸Line trash up for the piercing beam. Stop channeling and reposition when ground effects, flankers, or ranged crossfire become dangerous.
- ▸With Pulsing Shard, sustained hits provide healing, but do not ignore leech immunity, reflect, or telegraphed bursts. Channel in shorter windows if energy falls, then adjust Ectoplasm or Mental Alacrity.
- ▸Alternate Mirror of Ereoctes and Mark of Torment. Use Nullification on enemy buffs or removable debuffs and avoid wasting both major defenses together.
Cap primary resistances at 80% before Ultimate. Allow for the difficulty penalty and enemy resistance reduction by overcapping fire, cold, lightning, acid, pierce, bleed, vitality, aether, and chaos by roughly 20-30% where practical; 200% across the board is unnecessary. Also prioritize 100% armor absorption and useful stun, freeze, and slow resistance.
Standing still exposes weak DA, low armor absorption, crowd control, and ground effects. Sustain is inconsistent during transitions without AAR-specific leech, and Pulsing Shard competes with conversion off-hands. Overlapping Mirror and Mark leaves no answer for the next burst.
Farm Pulsing Shard from The Amalgamation in the Gruesome Harvest west of Homestead. Use totems, roguelike dungeons, and SR for blueprints and legendaries. Start with the Ultimate campaign and shallow SR, then move toward SR65 after overcaps, DA, and sustain are ready. SR75+ is outside this guide's baseline.
