Fire Blackwater Cocktail & Guardians Shieldbreaker
A caster-leaning pet-hybrid Shieldbreaker that bombs with the Demolitionist's Blackwater Cocktail while fielding a "small army" via the Oathkeeper's Summon Guardian of Empyrion. Guardians are usually taken purely for their resistance-shredding aura on Oathkeeper builds, but this build also leans on them as a real Fire damage source. Thermite Mine and Judgment follow up, and Ascension covers emergencies. The author personally defeated Korvaak, Theodin Marcell, Rashalga (the Mad Queen), Kra'Vall, the Avatar of Mogdrogen, Callagadra, and Ravager of Flesh on video.
Blackwater Cocktail
The author personally demonstrated the superboss/Celestial kills above plus Shattered Realm 26 on video (v1.2.1.6, guide published February 2026). Gear is mostly target-farmable green/epic pieces plus faction gear, easy to acquire through farming or purchase. It isn't a facetank, though — despite having Blast Shield and the Tortoise devotion proc as fail-safes, it's designed around positioning and kiting rather than tanking hits.

Skills & Priorities
8A thrown-bottle AoE bombing skill that also debuffs enemy resistance and damage output. The build's main attack. Bind the Solael's Witchblade devotion's proc here.
The Oathkeeper's core pet skill, summoning a small guardian; max its Celestial Presence node too. Bind the Fiend devotion's Flame Torrent proc here (early in leveling, park it on Blackwater Cocktail temporarily, then move it here once this skill is built up).
A planted Fire-damage skill, used as an additional resistance-shred source. Bind the Magi devotion's Fissure proc here.
An Oathkeeper single-target damage skill. Bind the Ulzuin's Torch devotion's Meteor Shower proc here.
An Oathkeeper self-buff granting damage absorption — an important emergency tool for a build that can't facetank.
A Demolitionist Fire-damage buff that boosts overall damage output.
A support passive unlocked along the Oathkeeper mastery bar; invest alongside Crushing Verdict and Heart of Wrath to round out Judgment's damage.
A defensive Oathkeeper aura, invested alongside Haven — it shores up survivability for both the player and the guardians.
Devotion Route (In Order)

- 2.1 point in Crossroads (Order), bringing the running total to Order 1.
- 3.1 point in Crossroads (Primordial), bringing the running total to Primordial 1.
- 4.Complete Jackal (3pt / requires Chaos 1 — the Crossroads point covers it. Grants Chaos +3, bringing the total to 4).
- 5.Complete Lotus (4pt / requires Order 1 — the Crossroads point covers it. Grants Eldritch +3, Order +2, bringing totals to Eldritch 3, Order 3).
- 6.Complete Hawk (3pt / requires Eldritch 1 — accumulated Eldritch 3 covers it. Grants Eldritch +3, bringing the total to 6).
- 7.Complete Scholar's Light (3pt / requires Eldritch 1 — accumulated Eldritch 6 covers it. Grants Eldritch +4, bringing the total to 10).
- 8.Complete Fox (4pt / requires Eldritch 1 — accumulated Eldritch 10 covers it. Grants Eldritch +5, bringing the total to 15).
- 9.[Core] Complete Fiend (5pt / requires Chaos 1 — accumulated Chaos 4 covers it. Grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3, bringing totals to Chaos 6, Eldritch 18). Temporarily bind its Flame Torrent proc to Blackwater Cocktail (move it to Summon Guardian of Empyrion later).
- 10.[Core] Complete Tortoise (5pt / requires Order 1 — accumulated Order 3 covers it. Grants Order +2, Primordial +3, bringing totals to Order 5, Primordial 4). Its Turtle Shell proc (auto-triggers below 50% health, throwing up a damage-absorbing barrier) is a fail-safe — bind it to whichever defensive skill has a free slot.
- 11.[Core] Complete Solael's Witchblade (5pt / requires Chaos 4, Eldritch 6 — accumulated Chaos 6, Eldritch 18 covers it. Grants Chaos +1, Eldritch +1, bringing totals to Chaos 7, Eldritch 19). Bind its proc to Blackwater Cocktail.
- 12.[Core] Complete Behemoth (6pt / requires Chaos 3, Eldritch 4, Primordial 4 — accumulated Chaos 7, Eldritch 19, Primordial 4 meets it exactly. Grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3, bringing totals to Chaos 9, Eldritch 22).
- 13.[Core] Complete Ulzuin's Torch (5pt / requires Chaos 8, Eldritch 15 — accumulated Chaos 9, Eldritch 22 covers it, using only affinity already banked from other constellations, not its own reward. Grants Chaos +3, Eldritch +2, bringing totals to Chaos 12, Eldritch 24). Bind its Meteor Shower proc to Judgment.
- 14.[Core] Complete Magi (7pt / requires Eldritch 10 — accumulated Eldritch 24 covers it. Grants Eldritch +3, bringing the total to 27). Bind its Fissure proc to Thermite Mine. This spends 53 of the 55-point budget; 2 points are free. The source guide's own route names 9 constellations (Fiend, Tortoise, Behemoth, Solael's Witchblade, Lotus, Magi, Jackal, Hawk, Ulzuin's Torch) plus a mid-route refund sequence involving Wraith, Harvestman's Scythe, and Crab — but the guide itself treats those three as disposable bridges meant to be refunded. This route reconstructs a refund-free path keeping all 9 named constellations, substituting Scholar's Light and Fox as bridges instead. Every step is verified using only affinity already banked from other completed constellations — no constellation's own reward is used to satisfy its own requirement.
Gear
- ▸Start as Demolitionist, pouring points into Blackwater Cocktail and High Potency. In Act 1, farm Cronley's mobs (the Arsonist) for Incendiary Shoulderplates.
- ▸At level 10, pick Oathkeeper as your secondary and start investing in Demon Fire. Late Act 1 (after Warden Krieg), grab the Bone Talisman relic; near the Skeleton Key dungeon, farm Grand Priest Zarthuzellan for Zarthuzellan's Codex.
- ▸In Act 2, farm Gollus (Dermapteran Hive) for Gollus' Ring. Side with the Order of Death's Vigil faction — this is mandatory for the build.
- ▸Late Act 2, defeat Archon Barthollem in Fort Ikon for the main-hand weapon, Barthollem's Gavel. Then start investing in Summon Guardian of Empyrion.
- ▸Farm Martin's Crest (medal) at Cronley's Hideout, and Ugdenbog Waistguard in the Forgotten Gods Astral Fields (near the Korvaak fight). Grab the Vilgazor's Heart amulet in Ancient Grove.
- ▸Keep Barthollem's Gavel as the weapon throughout (prioritize % Fire damage affixes — attack speed isn't needed).
- ▸For the endgame chest, build around Mythical Infernal Knight's Jacket (Infernal Champion set) or the alternative Justicar Guard set.
- ▸Gloves: an easily-farmed epic like Mythical Runic Bracers works fine. Pants: Dreeg-Sect Legguards. Boots: Mythical Final March or crafted Stoneplate Greaves.
- ▸Helmet: build around Chosen Visage, with Fettan Mask or Solael Black Flame Hood (+3 to Summon Guardian of Empyrion) as alternatives.
- ▸Rings: 2x Gollus' Ring. Medal: a better-rolled Martin's Crest. Relic: start with Endurance and upgrade later.
Playstyle & Notes
- ▸Throw Blackwater Cocktail for AoE bombing that also strips enemy resistance and damage output.
- ▸Keep your guardians up and lay down Thermite Mine for more resistance shred.
- ▸Follow up on tough single targets with Judgment.
- ▸Don't facetank — use positioning and kiting to avoid damage, and pop Ascension when things get dangerous.
Blackwater Cocktail and Thermite Mine strip enemy resistance, and the guardians' Celestial Presence node contributes too. On your own side, use faction augments to overcap resistances by roughly 30%. Most of the resistance sources come online before you finish the Forgotten Gods DLC.
Not a facetanking build — poor positioning gets you killed fast. The Iron Maiden nemesis (Kymon's Chosen), who deals heavy physical damage, is especially dangerous — better to kite and let the guardians handle her than to fight head-on. Adding Mirror of Ereoctes and Nullification makes things safer at the cost of more buttons to manage.
Farm Archon Barthollem in Fort Ikon for Barthollem's Gavel, Cronley's Hideout for Martin's Crest, Gollus in the Dermapteran Hive for the ring, and the Guardian of Dreeg near Devil's Crossing for Dreeg-Sect Legguards.
