Dark One Bone Harvest Ritualist
A Shaman/Necromancer build centered on spamming Bone Harvest, with Doom Bolt as a secondary attack and Wendigo Totem as its defensive backbone. The legendary Dark One's Gift set massively empowers Wendigo Totem and grants an on-hit defensive passive, keeping the build both cheap to gear and simple to play (effectively three buttons). The author reached level 100 in about 18 hours (full endgame gear was projected, not confirmed, to take under 30 hours) and demonstrated kills against the Ravager, SR30-31, and Callagadra.
Bone Harvest
The author personally leveled this SSF (self-found) and demonstrated a Ravager of Flesh kill, an SR30-31 clear, and a Callagadra kill on video. The guide is from v1.2.1.6, relatively recent. Very cheap and very hard to kill (the author calls it that directly); if Softcore feels too easy, the guide suggests switching to Hardcore or Veteran.

Skills & Priorities
5The main attack, scaling with casting speed — look for a weapon with a casting-speed affix like "Of Celerity." Also the binding target for Rattosh, the Veilwarden's Will of Rattosh proc.
A secondary attack that scales with Vitality damage, meshing directly with this build's damage type. Also the binding target for Abomination's Tainted Eruption proc.
A deployable totem that anchors this build's defense. The 4-piece Dark One's Grasp set bonus adds +3 points, 80 Vitality damage, and a 10-second duration, pushing its health-per-second regen to roughly 3x the unmodified value. Also the binding target for Chariot of the Dead's Wayward Soul proc.
An attack-speed buff and attack skill granted by the Ruination relic — use it to boost damage in boss fights. Also the binding target for Bat's Twin Fangs proc.
A health-regen buff. Since v1.2.0.0 it auto-activates once learned, continuously boosting survivability with no button required.
Devotion Route (In Order)
20- 1.1 point in Crossroads (Chaos).
- 2.Complete Jackal (3pt / requires Chaos 1, grants Chaos +3).
- 3.Refund the Chaos Crossroads point (-1 Chaos. Jackal's own +3 Chaos reward keeps satisfying its own Chaos 1 requirement, so this is safe).
- 4.1 point in Crossroads (Order).
- 5.Complete Lotus (4pt / requires Order 1, grants Eldritch +3, Order +2).
- 6.Complete Bat (5pt / requires Eldritch 1, grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3). Bind its Twin Fangs proc to Ruination.
- 7.Complete Crane (5pt / requires Order 1, grants Order +5).
- 8.Complete Scales of Ulcama (6pt / requires Order 8 — accumulated Order 8 meets the gate exactly; grants Order +2).
- 9.Refund Jackal (-3 Chaos. Nothing else currently held requires Chaos at this point, so this is safe).
- 10.1 point in Crossroads (Ascendant).
- 11.Complete Empty Throne (4pt / requires Ascendant 1, grants Ascendant +5).
- 12.Refund the Ascendant Crossroads point (-1 Ascendant. Empty Throne's own +5 Ascendant reward keeps satisfying its own Ascendant 1 requirement, so this is safe).
- 13.[Core] Complete Chariot of the Dead (7pt / requires Ascendant 5, Eldritch 5 — accumulated Ascendant 5, Eldritch 6 meets the gate; grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3). Bind its Wayward Soul proc to Wendigo Totem.
- 14.Complete Berserker (6pt / requires Ascendant 5, Eldritch 5 — accumulated Ascendant 5, Eldritch 9 meets the gate; grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3). No proc, just branching Physical/Bleed stat bonuses.
- 15.[Core] Complete Rattosh, the Veilwarden (6pt / requires Chaos 6, Eldritch 10, Order 6 — accumulated Chaos 6, Eldritch 12, Order 10 meets the gate; grants nothing). Bind its Will of Rattosh proc to Bone Harvest.
- 16.Complete Rat (4pt / requires Chaos 1, grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3).
- 17.Complete Hawk (3pt / requires Eldritch 1, grants Eldritch +3).
- 18.Complete Lion (3pt / requires Order 1, grants Order +3).
- 19.Refund Crane (-5 Order. The remaining Order 8 still meets Scales of Ulcama's requirement of 8 exactly, and stays above Lion's and Lotus's Order 1 requirements — confirmed).
- 20.[Core] Put 6 of Abomination's 8 points in (completing the right-arm branch plus one extra node from the left-arm branch. Requires Chaos 8, Eldritch 18 — accumulated Chaos 8, Eldritch 18 meets the gate exactly). Bind its Tainted Eruption proc (15% on Attack) to Doom Bolt. This uses all 55 devotion points.
Gear
- ▸Start as Shaman (not Necromancer) and level to Homestead with Primal Strike (any two-handed axe, spear, or mace — prioritize attack speed affixes). Picking Necromancer first locks you out of farming this build's signature Bone Harvest helmet (Death's Whisper Hood).
- ▸Early on, build around Putrid Necklace (an amulet rich in Vitality and Acid resistance) and Milton's Casque (for Aether resistance). Mid-game, farm Plagius in the Dark Sepulcher for Mark of Plagius.
- ▸Before level 35, stockpile 100k Iron Bits along with Bonescythes (from Mountain Deeps), the Bladesworn Talisman blueprint, Devils Cuirass and Shoulderguards, Rhowari Handguards, Harvest Footpads, and the Rhowari cord blueprint, then respec into Bone Harvest all at once.
- ▸Run the Kymon's Chosen questline in Blood Grove to secure Death's Whisper Hood — the main reason this build levels Shaman-first. The pants from the hidden "Hidden Path" quest are also a strong sustain pick during leveling.
- ▸Helmet, chest, shoulders, and gloves: the 4-piece Dark One's Gift set (Dark One's Hood, Dark One's Raiment, Dark One's Mantle, Dark One's Grasp). All pieces drop from enemies tied to Ashes of Malmouth's secret quest chain, and the full set massively empowers Wendigo Totem while adding the on-hit defensive passive "Dark One's Gift."
- ▸Belt: Lunal'Valgoth's Waistguard (+1 to all Necromancer skills, Chaos-to-Life conversion), from Lunal'Valgoth in Mourndale's Chthonic Rift roguelike dungeon.
- ▸Pants: farmed from Barrowholm's nemesis, Reaper of the Lost (requires hostile Barrowholm reputation). Medal: from Logath'Ak, a boss in the Bastion of Chaos roguelike dungeon.
- ▸Weapon: buy from a Blood Grove vendor or farm Mountain Deeps (a casting-speed "Of Celerity" affix is ideal). Amulet: also from the Blood Grove vendor, or from Master Ravok in Fort Haron.
- ▸Rings: pair an Epic-quality world drop with the Legendary ring dropped by the final boss of the Tomb of the Heretic roguelike dungeon. Boots: use whatever crafts from the commonly-dropping yellow (Rare) blueprint you'll likely already have.
- ▸Relic: Ruination (attack speed plus a boss-fight skill). Its blueprint is a random drop, so Bladesworn Talisman works fine as a placeholder until you find it.
Playstyle & Notes
- ▸Hold down Bone Harvest, filling gaps with Doom Bolt.
- ▸Drop Wendigo Totem to keep its health regen and damage reduction active.
- ▸In boss fights, pop Ruination's buff before committing to the fight.
- ▸Mogdrogen's Pact auto-activates once learned, so it keeps boosting survivability with no button required.
The full Dark One's Gift set bonus (on-hit) covers Acid/Vitality/Chaos/Poison resistance debuff protection and damage reduction. Fill gaps with components early on, and aim to overcap main resistances given how much Forgotten Gods content strips resistance.
Survivability leans mostly on leech and proc-based heals, so a single big slam attack can catch you off guard. Most of the gear depends on roguelike dungeon bosses and secret-quest-chain enemies, so figuring out the acquisition routes takes some time on a first run.
The 4 Dark One's Gift pieces drop from enemies tied to Ashes of Malmouth's secret quest chain. Farm Lunal'Valgoth in Mourndale's Chthonic Rift for the belt, the Barrowholm nemesis Reaper of the Lost for the pants, Logath'Ak in the Bastion of Chaos for the medal, and the final boss of the Tomb of the Heretic for the legendary ring.
