GRIM DAWN / BUILD / PURIFIER

Fire Strike Gunslinger Purifier

Pistol damage itself barely matters here — the real payload is a chain of gear and devotion procs. Keep firing Fire Strike to trigger Elemental Storm, Eldritch Fire, Fissure, and Meteor Shower non-stop while standing in Inquisitor's Seal, backed by the best circuit breaker in the game (Blast Shield) plus the Ghoul and Behemoth constellations. Nearly every core item is a targetable Monster Infrequent or faction reputation item you can farm from a known source (the Bane relic is the one exception, since its blueprint is a random drop).

TARGET CONTENT

The guide's stated design goal is a 1-to-100 campaign clear on Veteran (Hardcore-viable) using only targetable gear; the author's own Let's Play footage notes it also mixed in random blue/purple drops for convenience. After 100 it's meant to fund further gearing via Shattered Realm or totem/treasure-trove runs (no specific depth is claimed). The SR80 result cited in the guide belongs to a separate, further-upgraded variant built around the Dagallon set and Polarized Pistols, not this exact gear list. As of v1.2.1.6.

RATINGS

Gear need ★★★☆☆ (a few farmable required items)

SKILLS

Skills & Priorities

9
1. Fire StrikePoints: 12(装備の+スキルで15相当まで超過可)Priority: Top priority

Your main attack. Adds both physical and fire damage on top of your gunfire and acts as the trigger for every proc packed onto gear and devotions (full conversion to fire depends on conversion stats from gear, not the skill itself). The real damage comes from the procs it sets off, not from Fire Strike's own hit.

2. Explosive StrikePoints: 12(最大)Priority: High (max it during mid-leveling)

A modifier that upgrades Fire Strike (not a full transmuter). Adds area coverage and extra damage, becoming the main tool against trash mobs.

3. Bursting RoundPoints: 10Priority: Medium

An Inquisitor weapon-pool skill (WPS) that competes with Storm Spread and other WPS for the same trigger roll; whichever one fires still carries Fire Strike's and Explosive Strike's effects on top.

4. Inquisitor SealPoints: 最大Priority: High

The defensive centerpiece you fight from. Standing inside it grants damage absorption, boosted health regeneration, and extra elemental resistance.

5. Blast ShieldPoints: 10/12Priority: High

Called "the best circuit breaker in the game" by the guide's author. Returns taper off past 10 points, so stop there.

6. Vindictive FlamePoints: 11(+Ulzuin's Wrath変性に7)Priority: High

A defensive buff. Investing 7 points in the Ulzuin's Wrath transmuter gives a 69% chance to knock down attackers on being hit (or take it to 10 points for a flat 20% reduction to incoming damage instead).

7. Aura of CensurePoints: 最大(排他)Priority: High

The exclusive aura. One of the few sources of both resistance reduction and passive damage that needs no activation.

8. Thermite MinePoints: 最大Priority: High

A second source of resistance reduction; just dropping it raises your overall damage.

9. Word of RenewalPoints: 4から段階的に増強Priority: Medium

Your healing skill, paired with Vigor and Steel Resolve for survivability. Keep feeding it spare points on the way to level 100.

DEVOTION

Devotion Route (In Order)

14
  1. 1.1 point in Crossroads (Eldritch).
  2. 2.1 point in Crossroads (Chaos).
  3. 3.Complete Jackal (3pt / requires Chaos 1, grants Chaos +3).
  4. 4.[Core] Complete Ghoul (5pt / requires Chaos 1, grants Chaos +3). Its proc, Ghoulish Hunger, auto-triggers at 45% HP and converts 80% of damage dealt into health as a safety net.
  5. 5.Complete Raven (4pt / requires Eldritch 1, grants Eldritch +5).
  6. 6.[Core] Complete Solael's Witchblade (5pt / requires Chaos 4, Eldritch 6 — accumulated Chaos 7, Eldritch 6 meets the gate; grants Chaos +1, Eldritch +1). Its Eldritch Fire proc fires off from Fire Strike's gunshots.
  7. 7.1 point in Crossroads (Ascendant).
  8. 8.Complete Toad (4pt / requires Ascendant 1, grants Ascendant +3, Eldritch +3).
  9. 9.[Core] Complete Rhowan's Crown (5pt / requires Ascendant 4, Eldritch 6 — accumulated Ascendant 4, Eldritch 10 meets the gate exactly; grants Ascendant +1, Eldritch +1). Its Elemental Storm proc spreads combined fire/cold/lightning damage with resistance reduction.
  10. 10.[Core] Complete Magi (7pt / requires Eldritch 10 — accumulated Eldritch 11 meets the gate; grants Eldritch +3). Its Fissure proc adds extra fire damage.
  11. 11.1 point in Crossroads (Primordial).
  12. 12.Complete Lizard (3pt / requires Primordial 1, grants Primordial +4).
  13. 13.[Core] Complete Behemoth (6pt / requires Chaos 3, Eldritch 4, Primordial 4 — accumulated Chaos 8, Eldritch 14, Primordial 5 meets the gate; grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3). Its Giant's Blood proc is a defensive pillar, boosting health and regeneration.
  14. 14.[Core] Complete Ulzuin's Torch (7pt / requires Chaos 8, Eldritch 15 — accumulated Chaos 10, Eldritch 17 meets the gate; grants nothing). Its Meteor Shower proc is the build's signature move. This uses 53 of 55 points; the remaining 2 are free (Tortoise or similar, to taste).
GEAR

Gear

LEVELING
  • Start with 2x Francis' Gun (drops from a Rotting Corpse in Lower Crossing). From level 15, pick Duncan as your Blacksmith and switch to the crafted Double-Barrel Pistol (choosing Angrim locks you out of this recipe).
  • Upgrade to Hand Mortar at level 37, then Shrapnel Pistol at 62 (the best targetable fire pistol all the way to 100) — both blueprints come from the vendor-reset trick.
  • Infernal (a fire damage proc prefix) is the ideal affix; fill resistance gaps with components until one drops.
ENDGAME
  • Amulet: Ulraprax's Sting (+1 Inquisitor skills; drops from Ulraprax, a hive queen near Twin Falls).
  • Rings: 2x Gollus' Ring (health, regen, +3 Vindictive Flame; drops from Gollus the Deepdweller in a hidden cave near Homestead).
  • Medal: Martin's Crest (+3 Thermite Mine; drops from 'Moneybags' Martin in Cronley's Hideout).
  • Helmet: Incendiary Casque (+3 skills, fire damage; drops from Cronley's Gang Arsonists).
  • Chest: Elite Malmouth Aetherblaze Vestments (the non-elite version is wearable from level 65).
  • Shoulders: Incendiary Shoulderplates (converts chaos to fire damage; same Arsonist drop source as the helmet).
  • Belt: Ugdenbog Waistguard (+1 Inquisitor skills; drops from Naxen Shade at the bottom of the Barrowholm mine).
  • Gloves/boots: Rhowari faction reputation gear, or any rare with good resistances, is fine here.
  • Relic: Bane once you're level 60+ and have its blueprint; use Vendetta (purchasable from the Malmouth Resistance once reputation allows) until then.
PLAY

Playstyle & Notes

PLAYSTYLE
  • Stand inside Inquisitor's Seal and keep shooting, letting gear and devotion procs chain off each other.
  • Ulzuin's Wrath's knockdown reliably stalls regular enemies, but bosses carry very high (often stacking) knockdown resistance at higher difficulty, so the 10-point variant's flat 20% reduced target damage is the more dependable boss option.
  • Strip resistances with Thermite Mine and Aura of Censure before committing to the kill.
  • Save Blast Shield for the truly dangerous hits.
RESISTANCES

Cap your own resistances at 80% with gear and components, while Aura of Censure and Thermite Mine strip enemy resistances. Physical resistance is nearly impossible to stack in this setup, so Blast Shield's circuit breaker is what actually absorbs the damage spikes.

WEAKNESSES

Direct pistol damage is close to nonexistent, so the build feels weak before its procs start landing. Fire-immune enemies, which start appearing around Burrwitch, blunt most of the build's fire-based proc damage. Starting as Demolitionist lets you lean on Demon Fire's chaos damage there, but Demon Fire is not part of this build's final skill layout, so routing around those enemies (or temporarily picking it up) is the simplest answer.

FARMING SPOTS

Target Ulraprax at the hive near Twin Falls for the amulet, Gollus the Deepdweller in the hidden cave near Homestead for the rings, 'Moneybags' Martin and the Arsonists in Cronley's Hideout for the medal/helmet/shoulders, and Naxen Shade at the bottom of the Barrowholm mine for the belt. Each has a fixed kill target (though the specific affix roll is still random like any MI). The Bane relic is the one piece still gated by a random blueprint drop.
