Fire Vire's Might Skater Paladin
A "skater"-style Fire Paladin that dashes through packs of enemies, painting a trail of fire with Vire's Might's Volcanic Stride modifier. The rotation is simple: debuff with Word of Pain, charge in, then watch the flaming trail melt everything — few buttons, so it's controller-friendly. Ascension covers CC resistance and defense in dangerous moments. Designed HCSSF-style to balance damage against survivability rather than maximize DPS alone, with gear that's entirely target-farmable or faction-bought.
Vire's Might
The author personally defeated Rashalga, Kra'vall, Korvaak, and Theodin Marcell, cleared SR26-27, ran all five skeleton key dungeons (Ancient Grove, Steps of Torment, Tomb of the Heretic, Port Valbury, Bastion of Chaos), and beat Lokarr and the Bourbon Clones, all on video (published June 2026, v1.2.1.6). For Celestial bosses like Callagadra, the author recommends adding the Vanquisher set.

Skills & Priorities
10An Oathkeeper charge skill that's both the build's main damage source and its movement tool. Bind the Imp devotion's Aetherfire proc here (15% chance on attack).
A modifier for Vire's Might that leaves a burning DoT trail along the dash path — the true damage source of this "skater" build.
An Inquisitor debuff applied before charging in — the opener of the rotation. Bind the Dryad devotion's Dryad's Blessing proc here.
An Inquisitor exclusive aura that lowers enemy damage output and Elemental resistance — a valuable RR/debuff source.
An Oathkeeper buff. Use it as a panic button in dangerous situations, boosting CC resistance and defense. Invest lightly in its Clarity of Purpose modifier too.
The other modifier for Vire's Might. Extends the dash distance, reduces its cooldown, and adds Internal Trauma/Burn damage.
An Oathkeeper summon skill. Its Celestial Presence modifier, unlocked at 50 points in the mastery bar, adds an aura around the Guardian that strips nearby enemies' Physical, Fire, and Bleeding resistance.
An Inquisitor heal skill invested in to shore up survivability. Its Vigor and Steel Resolve modifiers are also part of this same skill tree.
An always-on Inquisitor passive that triggers an offensive buff on critical hits.
An Oathkeeper aura. Its Haven modifier boosts health, healing effectiveness, and shield block chance/amount.
Devotion Route (In Order)
19- 1.1 point in Crossroads (Primordial).
- 2.Complete Imp (5pt / requires Primordial 1, already met by the running total; grants Eldritch +3, Primordial +3). Bind its Aetherfire proc to Vire's Might.
- 3.1 point in Crossroads (Chaos).
- 4.Complete Jackal (3pt / requires Chaos 1, already met by the running total; grants Chaos +3).
- 5.1 point in Crossroads (Eldritch).
- 6.Complete Behemoth (6pt / requires Chaos 3, Eldritch 4, Primordial 4, already met by the running total; grants Chaos +2, Eldritch +3).
- 7.Complete Solael's Witchblade (5pt / requires Chaos 4, Eldritch 6, already met by the running total; grants Chaos +1, Eldritch +1).
- 8.Refund Jackal (3pt returned). The Chaos Crossroads point plus Behemoth's and Solael's Witchblade's own Chaos +3 maintain Chaos 4 on their own, so nothing else is affected.
- 9.Refund the Eldritch Crossroads point (1pt returned). Behemoth's and Solael's Witchblade's own Eldritch +4 maintain Eldritch 7 on their own, so nothing else is affected.
- 10.1 point in Crossroads (Order).
- 11.Complete Dryad (5pt / requires Order 1, already met by the running total; grants Order +3). Bind its Dryad's Blessing proc to Word of Pain.
- 12.Complete Wraith (4pt / requires Primordial 1, already met by the running total; grants Ascendant +3, Primordial +3). This is a temporary investment refunded later.
- 13.[Core] Complete Harvestman's Scythe (6pt / requires Ascendant 3, Order 3, Primordial 5, already met by the running total; grants Ascendant +3, Primordial +3).
- 14.Complete Crab (5pt / requires Ascendant 6, Order 4, already met by the running total; grants Ascendant +3).
- 15.Complete Solemn Watcher (5pt / requires Primordial 10, already met by the running total; grants Order +2, Primordial +3).
- 16.Refund Wraith (4pt returned). Harvestman's Scythe, Crab, and Solemn Watcher's requirements (Ascendant 3-6, Primordial 5-10) all remain satisfied by the other constellations' own grants without Wraith.
- 17.Complete Eel (3pt / requires Primordial 1, already met by the running total; grants Primordial +5).
- 18.Complete Bull (5pt / requires Primordial 1, already met by the running total; grants Order +2, Primordial +3).
- 19.[Core] Complete Light of Empyrion (7pt / requires Order 8, Primordial 18, exactly met by the running total; grants nothing). This lands at exactly 55/55 points including 3 Crossroads points (Primordial, Chaos, Order — the Eldritch Crossroads point was refunded earlier). Following the original guide's stated order exactly, refunding Wraith before completing Solemn Watcher would drop Primordial below its 10-point requirement — so this route delays the Wraith refund until after Solemn Watcher is complete. It also adds Bull (not in the original guide) to cover the late-game Order/Primordial shortfall.
Gear
- ▸Start as Oathkeeper, putting 1 point into Righteous Fervor and 2 into the mastery bar every level. A 2H melee or ranged weapon works as a stand-in. Around level 10-11, once Vire's Might's Volcanic Stride modifier unlocks, respec out of Righteous Fervor, put 1 point into Vire's Might, and pour the rest into Volcanic Stride.
- ▸Max Volcanic Stride while investing in the mastery bar to unlock Tectonic Shift. Once you've restored your first 6 devotion shrines, spend 1 point in Crossroads (Primordial) and complete Imp, binding its proc to Vire's Might.
- ▸After defeating Warden Krieg and dealing with Cronley's gang, chase the build's first item, Zarthuzellan's Archive (from the boss of the same name near the Steps of Torment entrance on Broken Hills). Invest in Tectonic Shift while finishing the Oathkeeper mastery bar, then 1 point into Summon Guardian of Empyrion and 2 into Celestial Presence. From here, invest in Celestial Presence and the Inquisitor mastery bar. On devotions, work through Crossroads (Chaos) 1, Jackal, Crossroads (Eldritch) 1, and Behemoth.
- ▸After reaching Homestead, you'll be asked to choose between Kymon's Chosen and the Order of Death's Vigil before heading to Bastion of Sorrow. **You must choose Order of Death's Vigil** — one of this build's mandatory items drops from a boss belonging to Kymon's Chosen. Once you've finished investing in Summon Guardian of Empyrion and Celestial Presence, pour everything into the Inquisitor mastery bar: 1 point each into Word of Pain, Word of Agony, and Death Sentence. Max Aura of Censure as top priority once it unlocks. On devotions, complete Solael's Witchblade, refund Jackal and the Eldritch Crossroads point, spend 1 in Crossroads (Order), complete Dryad (bind its proc to Word of Pain), complete Wraith, and start investing in Harvestman's Scythe.
- ▸Once you reach Fort Ikon, pause the main campaign for Forgotten Gods. Pick Cult of Bysmiel as your first faction. Late in the DLC at the Astral Fields, chase the belt from gargoyle mobs. On devotions, complete Harvestman's Scythe, complete Crab, and complete Solemn Watcher — only then refund Wraith and start investing in Eel (refunding Wraith any earlier would drop Primordial below Solemn Watcher's 10-point requirement).
- ▸Back in the main campaign, after defeating the Loghorrean and finishing the story, chase the weapon from Bargoll in Ugdenbog (a hidden area below-right of the riftgate). Stay friendly with Barrowholm — it unlocks some of this build's gear. Finish Ashes of Malmouth and move into Elite.
- ▸On Elite, check gear and resistances while putting 1 point into Word of Renewal and investing in the Inquisitor's Vigor and Deadly Aim. Reaching Respected reputation with Malmouth Resistance unlocks Potions of Clarity, speeding up leveling once you reach Ultimate. At level 65, buy Wendigo Guardian Cuirass from Barrowholm and Bysmiel Arcane Spaulders from the Cult of Bysmiel — more efficient than hoping for random drops.
- ▸Once Vigor and Deadly Aim are maxed, max Steel Resolve and Vire's Might. Entering Ultimate, recheck your resistance caps and gear gaps, and invest in Ascension and Clarity of Purpose. Aim for Respected reputation with the Cult of Bysmiel, Malmouth Resistance, Coven of Ugdenbog, and Barrowholm.
- ▸At level 90, upgrade the amulet to Heart of Malmouth (blueprint from Malmouth Resistance). Buy 2x Malmouth Aetherblaze Seal rings from the same faction as a stopgap until better drops appear.
- ▸Buy the Mark of the Shadow Queen blueprint from the Cult of Bysmiel to upgrade your medal. The same faction also sells Bysmiel Arcane Spaulders for shoulders.
- ▸Elite Harvest Grips from Homestead work fine for gloves. Upgrade weapon/off-hand chasing Fire-damage affixes, or consider the Coven's Blazerush blueprint (less cooldown reduction and Burn damage, but more weapon damage).
- ▸Dreeg-Sect Legguards is the reliable pick for pants. Elite Legion Greaves works for boots. Farm Sister Bravna for a helm upgrade. Buy the Elite chest armor from Barrowholm.
- ▸Farm for a belt, or craft a Dreeg Venomspine Girdle if you'd rather skip the farming.
- ▸For Celestial-tier fights like Callagadra, adding the Vanquisher set is recommended.
Playstyle & Notes
- ▸Debuff with Word of Pain, then dash into the enemy pack with Vire's Might.
- ▸Watch the burning trail left by Volcanic Stride melt everything as you keep dashing from pack to pack.
- ▸Pop Ascension for CC resistance and defense in dangerous moments.
- ▸Few buttons and simple execution make this controller-friendly.
Aim for capped resistances, itemizing in line with the build's HCSSF philosophy of balancing damage against survivability. Use Ascension for CC resistance, and don't hesitate to pop it in dangerous moments.
The "skater" playstyle divides opinion, and since damage relies on burning trails left while moving rather than raw single-target output, being locked down (stunned, etc.) hurts more than usual. Because it's designed HCSSF-style around balance rather than maximum damage, raw DPS lags behind dedicated attacker classes.
Farm near the Steps of Torment entrance on Broken Hills for Zarthuzellan's Archive, Blood Grove for Bolvar's Pendant, the Tomb of Korvaak near the Asterkarn Valley riftgate for Mark of Harvoul, Bargoll in Ugdenbog for the weapon, gargoyle mobs in the Astral Fields for the belt, and Sister Bravna for the helm.
