GRIM DAWN / BUILD / CONJURER

Vitality Caster Conjurer

A vitality caster that shreds resistance with Devouring Swarm and Curse of Frailty, then burns the field with Bloody Pox and Sigil of Consumption. It plays like a "piano" — cycling through several skills in rotation — trading single-target burst for durability and area control. The Dark One's Gift set, unlocked through an Ashes of Malmouth secret quest, is a target-farmable core that carries the build from leveling through endgame with the same game plan.

Bloody Pox

TARGET CONTENT

The budget setup demonstrated in the older v1.1.6.2 guide clears the full campaign comfortably, with Shattered Realm 65 (using aggro-gathering) and Crucible 150 (Crucible 170 is not recommended — nemesis waves tend to overwhelm it). This result has not been re-verified on the current v1.2.1.6. Tighter gear pushes further.

SKILLS

Skills & Priorities

7
1. Bloody PoxPoints: 最大Priority: Top priority

The build's main proc trigger and area damage source. Its Wasting node shreds enemy offensive ability and should also be maxed.

2. Sigil of ConsumptionPoints: 最大Priority: High

The build's best single-target damage. Drop it under enemies; damage from multiple sigils stacks.

3. Devouring SwarmPoints: できるだけ早く最大Priority: High (max as early as possible)

A 5-second resistance-reduction (RR) skill with no cooldown, but it should not be spammed. Prioritize maxing its points early.

4. Curse of Frailty + VulnerabilityPoints: 本体は最小限、ヴァルネラビリティは最大Priority: High

A second, ticking RR source and devotion-proc trigger. Keep the base skill minimal for quality of life and max Vulnerability.

5. Wendigo TotemPoints: 最大Priority: High

Without the Dark One set it is just a heal/filler; with the set it also shines offensively, so it is worth maxing. The second node needs only one point.

6. Blood of DreegPoints: 本体16、派生12〜14Priority: Medium

Heal-and-buff skill. Max the base node; adjust the upgrade node based on how much acid resistance is needed.

7. Storm TotemPoints: 任意(レベリング中は最大でも可)Priority: Low

With a conversion modifier it becomes a full-vitality damage source, but without one it is low priority. Leaving it around 11/16 is fine.

DEVOTION

Devotion Route (In Order)

14
  1. 1.[Core] Take one Eldritch Crossroads point and complete Bat (requires Eldritch 1, grants Chaos 2 / Eldritch 3). Keep this Crossroads point permanently — it is needed later to maintain Rattosh.
  2. 2.Complete Viper (requires Chaos 1, grants Chaos 2 / Primordial 3).
  3. 3.Complete Eel (requires Primordial 1, grants Primordial 5).
  4. 4.[Core] Complete Wendigo (requires Chaos 4 / Primordial 6, grants Chaos 2). Accumulated Chaos 4 / Primordial 8 meets the gate. A vitality-oriented devotion that fits the build well (the direct Wendigo Totem skill boost itself comes from the Dark One's Gift set, not this constellation).
  5. 5.Take one Order Crossroads point and complete Panther (requires Order 1, grants Order 2 / Primordial 3).
  6. 6.Complete Lotus (requires Order 1, grants Eldritch 3 / Order 2).
  7. 7.Temporarily complete Lion (requires Order 1, grants Order 3). This is a bridge pick, refunded after Oklaine's Lantern is locked in below.
  8. 8.[Core] Complete Scales of Ulcama (requires Order 8, grants Order 2). Accumulated Order 8 meets the gate exactly. Provides flat RR plus a defensive proc. The Order Crossroads point can be refunded here — Panther, Lotus, Lion, and Scales' own grants alone maintain Order 9, enough for every later Order requirement.
  9. 9.Temporarily complete Scholar's Light (requires Eldritch 1, grants Eldritch 4). Another bridge pick, refunded after Rattosh and Oklaine's Lantern are locked in.
  10. 10.[Core] Complete Rattosh, the Veilwarden (requires Chaos 6 / Eldritch 10 / Order 6). Accumulated Chaos 6 / Eldritch 11 / Order 9 meets the gate. A key vitality-damage RR source. Once locked in, Eldritch 10 / Chaos 6 / Order 6 must be maintained continuously — the game blocks any refund that would drop below these.
  11. 11.Complete Oklaine's Lantern (requires Eldritch 10, grants Eldritch 3 / Order 2). Lion can be refunded here — Panther, Lotus, Scales, and Lantern's own grants alone maintain Order 8, still meeting Rattosh's Order 6. Scholar's Light can also be refunded here: with the Eldritch Crossroads point kept from step 1, Eldritch stays at exactly 10 (Crossroads 1 + Bat 3 + Lotus 3 + Lantern 3), still meeting Rattosh's requirement.
  12. 12.Complete Wretch (requires Chaos 1, grants Chaos 2 / Primordial 3). This brings the total to Chaos 8 / Primordial 14, most of the way to Dying God's requirement.
  13. 13.Take one Primordial Crossroads point (bringing Primordial to 15).
  14. 14.[Core] Complete Dying God (requires Chaos 8 / Primordial 15, exactly met). Stars 1-5 add large vitality/chaos damage bonuses; the final tier is a branch choice (6a/6b) — take 6b for its Hungering Void proc (33% chance on attack). Full completion costs 6 points total. Keep both the Eldritch and Primordial Crossroads points permanently; the overall total lands on exactly 55 points.
GEAR

Gear

LEVELING
  • Start as Shaman and invest early in Devouring Swarm. Grow the Occultist mastery bar in parallel and use Mogdrogen's Pact for energy regeneration.
  • Green MIs and cheap gear are enough while leveling; prioritize vitality damage, resistances, and energy regen.
  • The build's core is Dark One's Gift, a target-farmable enemy-drop set unlocked through an Ashes of Malmouth secret quest. Look up the unlock steps on a guide or wiki and have it ready by the time you reach Ultimate.
  • A solid late-leveling weapon is Boneblade (drops from Trog enemies); Word of Solael (a purchasable Solael cult recipe) is an accessible off-hand.
ENDGAME
  • Weapon options are Fang of Ch'thon (a hard-to-craft dagger) or Nightbringer, a two-hander from Forgotten Gods.
  • Skull of Gul'Amash (with a Sigil of Consumption modifier) is the best-in-slot off-hand; Word of Solael is a solid fallback if it is hard to acquire.
  • Upgrade the relic from Ancestor early on to Eldritch Pact at endgame. Prioritize vitality damage and resistances on rings, medal, amulet, and belt — green MIs for the budget version, Forgotten Gods legendaries for a tighter build.
PLAY

Playstyle & Notes

PLAYSTYLE
  • A "piano" build: cycle through several skills in rotation. Shred resistance with Devouring Swarm and Curse of Frailty, then burn with Bloody Pox and Sigil of Consumption. Missed inputs rarely end the fight.
  • Single-target damage is modest, so lean into trash clearing and area control rather than boss racing.
  • Blood of Dreeg's high self-healing forgives some mistakes. Manage energy with Mogdrogen's Pact and energy-regen gear.
  • In Shattered Realm, gathering aggro and clearing with area skills is the build's strongest pattern.
RESISTANCES

Cap main resistances at 80% before Ultimate. A strength of this build is that Shaman/Occultist passives cover acid, aether, pierce, and chaos resistance individually alongside physical and vitality. Since armor is hard to stack, top up Defensive Ability through gear and augments instead.

WEAKNESSES

Single-target damage is on the lower side, so boss fights run longer than other archetypes. It leans on Defensive Ability and self-healing rather than armor, so it can run out of steam in high-incoming-damage fights. It does not reach full performance until the Dark One's Gift set pieces have dropped.

FARMING SPOTS

The Dark One's Gift set becomes farmable from its target enemies once its Ashes of Malmouth secret quest is unlocked (see a walkthrough for the unlock steps). Farm Forgotten Gods dungeons and roguelike dungeons for endgame rings and legendaries. Shattered Realm around 65 and Crucible 150 are the benchmarks from the older guide (not re-verified on the current patch).
