Vitality Primal Strike Archon

A Shaman+Oathkeeper melee build centered on Primal Strike's chain-hit attacks, sustained by Wendigo Totem's healing and Oathkeeper defensive skills. The author (S.E.P_Ralf) writes, "If you're searching for a lazy and reliable facetanker, this build's for you."

TARGET CONTENT

The author posted video proof of clearing Morgoneth's dungeon in full and defeating Lokarr, Korvaak, Rashalga the Mad Queen, and Kra'Vall with the budget setup on v1.2.0.3. Both endgame variants (Dark One's Gift and Rotgheist sets) clear SR 65. The author leveled to 100 in Softcore and never died during testing, and claims "HC viable" on that basis — but this isn't verification in an actual Hardcore run. No author re-verification on the current v1.2.1.6 patch could be confirmed.

SKILLS

Skills & Priorities

8
1. Primal StrikePoints: 最大Priority: Top priority

A Shaman active melee skill that slams the weapon down and triggers chaining follow-up hits — the build's main damage source. Bind the Abomination devotion's Tainted Eruption proc here (15% chance on attack).

2. Devouring SwarmPoints: 少数〜中Priority: Medium

A Shaman linear debuff skill that inflicts internal-bleed damage and a resistance-reduction debuff on everything it passes through. Effective even at low point investment from early on.

3. Wendigo TotemPoints: 最大Priority: High

A Shaman deployable healing totem that continuously heals you and your pets in its radius — a survivability pillar for this build.

4. Oak SkinPoints: Priority: Medium

A Shaman defensive buff that boosts armor and resistances. Bind the Tortoise devotion's Turtle Shell proc here (100% chance at or below 50% health, nullifies incoming damage briefly).

5. Path of the ThreePoints: 最大Priority: Medium

An Oathkeeper toggle passive (must stay active to maintain its effect), granting stat bonuses drawn from the blessing of the three Witch Gods (Bysmiel, Dreeg, Solael).

6. HavenPoints: 最大Priority: Medium

An Oathkeeper defensive buff that boosts resilience against sustained damage. Bind the Behemoth devotion's Giant's Blood proc here (15% chance on being hit).

7. AscensionPoints: Priority: Medium (emergency use)

An Oathkeeper temporary buff — a brief taste of the deity's true power, used as a burst safety net in dangerous moments.

8. Summon Guardian of EmpyrionPoints: 1Priority: Low (1 point)

An Oathkeeper summon skill that deploys a tanky Guardian. Bind the Abomination devotion's other proc, Abominable Might, here (20% chance on attack) — the Guardian's own attacks count toward triggering it.

This lands at 51 of the 55-point budget, including 4 Crossroads points (Eldritch, Chaos, Primordial, Order), with zero refunds needed anywhere. The last 4 points are left as flexible/optional investment. The forum guide only linked level-bracket grimtools calculators without writing out its devotion route in text; using the constellations it does mention by level bracket (Bat, Tortoise, Lion, Lotus, Eel, Kraken, Scales of Ulcama, Wendigo, Scholar's Light, Rat, Raven, Abomination) as a reference, this route was independently designed and verified to fit within the 55-point budget.
GEAR

LEVELING
  • After unlocking Forgotten Gods, chase the Korvan Storm Halberd (weapon) and Korvan Casque (helm) around levels 20-30.
  • Around level 40, chase Bolvar's Pendant (amulet) from Blood Grove and the Rylok Mark (medal) from chthonic areas. The guide calls out respec breakpoints, such as dropping Wind Devil once Rylok Mark comes online.
  • From level 80, chase the Wildblood Crusher (weapon — a lucky drop, or an upgrade path from the Halberd).
ENDGAME
  • Chase Dreeg-Sect Legguards (from the Guardian of Dreeg, aiming for a Vitality affix), 2x Viloth's Rings (from the boss Viloth, aiming for a Vitality affix), and the craftable Solar Girdle (belt).
  • The weapon centerpiece is the Mythical Wildblood Crusher, with the Morgoneth dungeon's Nightbringer offered as an alternative.
  • Two endgame set options are presented: Dark One's Gift (SR65-capable, farming-oriented, target-farmable from specific monsters in Edge of Reality) and Rotgheist (damage-focused, somewhat lower toughness, requiring multiple days of Shattered Realm farming). The author says the latter "loses some toughness but sees a big DPS increase."
PLAY

Playstyle & Notes

PLAYSTYLE
  • Debuff with Devouring Swarm, drop Wendigo Totem, then keep hitting with Primal Strike.
  • Lean on Ascension in dangerous moments, with the Turtle Shell proc as a safety net.
  • The author calls it a "lazy, reliable facetanker." That said, endgame attack speed tops out around 140%, which the author admits is slow for the toughest fights.
RESISTANCES

Aim for roughly 80% across all resistances by Veteran. The guide flags Chaos resistance around 70% as a checkpoint before the Bolvar fight, stacked via Incendiary Shoulderguard and Fleshwarped Platemail. Aether and Chaos resistances are called out as needing special attention.

WEAKNESSES

Endgame attack speed tops out around 140%, which the author admits is slow for the toughest fights. Freezing mechanics like Moosilauke's are a poor match for the facetank playstyle. Gear dependency is high, relying on specific MI drops and set-piece farming. The guide notes Bolvar was buffed as of v1.2.0.3 and can one-shot an under-geared character.

FARMING SPOTS

Farm the Forgotten Gods Korvan gear set (levels 20-30), Blood Grove (Bolvar's Pendant), chthonic areas (Rylok Mark), the Guardian of Dreeg (legguards), the boss Viloth (rings), and the Morgoneth dungeon (Nightbringer alternative weapon). For endgame, target Dark One's Gift (farmable from specific monsters in Edge of Reality) or Rotgheist (requires multiple days of Shattered Realm farming).
