Burn Through Charged Bolts Sorcerer Leveling Build
A level 1–70 route that starts with Arc Lash and Charged Bolts for Mana and Ferocity, then transitions at level 32 into the Lord of Hatred Firework, Burn Through, and Inferno setup. Add Enchantments, Runes, a Talisman, and Mercenaries as they unlock.
Why This Is the Beginner Baseline
2Strengths
- Multiple bolts can hit one target, supporting both pack clear and close-range single-target damage.
- No Unique is mandatory; staff damage and main-skill ranks carry the route.
- Teleport, Ice Armor, and Frost Nova divide mobility, defense, and Freeze.
Limitations
- The completed Fire setup requires level 32 and Lord of Hatred, so Lightning is used first.
- Burn Through loses piercing, so Inferno grouping and close-range multi-hit positioning matter.
Final Six-Skill Setup
6Target Rank is the base-skill goal at level 70; spend remaining points on the chosen branch modifiers as they unlock.
Firework
Pyromancy Spark variant used for basic attacks and small explosions when Mana is low.
Burn Through
Pyromancy Charged Bolts variant and main attack, layering multiple impact explosions.
Inferno
Ultimate that groups enemies for Burn Through; use the Overpower upgrade.
Teleport
Mobility, escape, and close-range positioning tool.
Ice Armor
Provides Barrier and Mana regeneration and occupies the potion-triggered Enchantment slot.
Frost Nova
Provides Freeze, Vulnerable, and Mana and occupies the second Enchantment slot.
Enchantments
3Setup checklist
- At level 15, complete Legacy of the Magi and assign Ice Armor to the first slot.
- Use a Potion to trigger Ice Armor for Barrier and Mana; do not waste Potions when neither is needed.
- At level 30, assign Frost Nova to the second slot for automatic Freeze, Vulnerable, and Mana from repeated hits.
Expansion Setup Leading into Burn Through
3Talisman
- Use a Seal with more slots and useful individual Charms instead of waiting for a set.
- Prioritize Pyromancy, Core, or Burn Through ranks, multiplicative damage, Attack Speed, and Critical Strike Chance.
- Next add Cooldown Reduction and Movement Speed, then Maximum Life, Resistances, and Armor.
Runewords
- Neo + Gar converts damage dealt without being hit into Critical Strike Chance.
- Cir + Qua adds Movement Speed after five skill casts to shorten travel between packs.
- Place both pairs in armor and reserve staff sockets for offensive gems.
Mercenary
- Hire Raheir with Ground Slam, Aegis, Bastion, and Inspiration for close-range defense.
- Use Varyana's Bloodthirst as Reinforcement, triggered by any skill in combat.
- Subo is an exploration alternative, but Raheir is the first-character baseline.
In the base game, continue the level-1 Lightning setup to 70 and omit Firework, Burn Through, Runes, the Talisman, and Mercenaries. Use Arc Lash, Charged Bolts, and Unstable Currents while prioritizing Shock damage, Ferocity, and Mana recovery.
Level-by-Level Priorities
4Establish the Lightning loop
- Build Mana and Ferocity with Arc Lash and prioritize Charged Bolts as the main attack.
- Add Teleport, Ice Armor, and Frost Nova to reduce downtime.
Unlock Enchantments and the Ultimate
- Complete Legacy of the Magi and set Ice Armor as the first Enchantment.
- Add Unstable Currents and set Frost Nova as the second Enchantment at level 30.
Respec into the expansion Fire setup
- Respec together into Firework Spark, Burn Through Charged Bolts, and Inferno; do not mix half the package.
- Group with Inferno and shift to close-range overlapping Burn Through explosions.
Stabilize Mana and expansion systems
- Add Neo + Gar, Cir + Qua, Raheir, and Varyana as they become available.
- Stabilize Mana recovery, cost reduction, and cooldowns, then transition into the endgame Charged Bolts build at 70.
Simple Combat Loop
4- Teleport into position and use Ice Armor or a Potion for Barrier and Mana when needed.
- Pull enemies together with Inferno, then Freeze and apply Vulnerable with Frost Nova.
- Cast Burn Through from close range so multiple explosions overlap on the same target.
- Use Firework when Mana is low and do not remain close without Barrier or Freeze.
Use Normal as the speed baseline and raise to Hard only when normal packs never slow you down. Lower it for repeated Mana droughts, close-range deaths, or long Elite fights.
What to Keep While Leveling
3Affix priorities
- Prioritize staff weapon damage and item power; comparable staves are simpler to upgrade than weapon-plus-focus setups.
- Seek Burn Through, Pyromancy, or Core ranks, Intelligence, Attack Speed, and Critical Chance; use Shock and Lightning stats before the respec.
- For comfort add Mana recovery, cost reduction, Cooldown Reduction, and Movement Speed; fill Maximum Life, Resistances, and Armor.
Helpful Aspects—not requirements
Low-level gear is replaced quickly, so reserve scarce materials for major staff upgrades and important Aspects. Unverified Japanese Aspect names remain on weekly review.
Safe Alternatives
3Adjust without breaking the build
- If you do not want to respec at 32, continue Arc Lash, Charged Bolts, and Unstable Currents to 70.
- If close range is unsafe, reserve Teleport for escape and cast Burn Through from the edge of the pack.
- Static Field Blizzard does not unlock until around level 30, so only adopt it as a full build switch, not an early patch.
