Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent - NPC Tikilen Strategy Guide
This is strategy information for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
After defeating Arena Tikilen, you can battle NPC Tikilen in the Victor Hollow arena using Field Commands. You can challenge her repeatedly after a certain period of time and obtain Victor's Insignia (Tikilen).
The above can be exchanged for Tikilen-exclusive items and Guiding Lights at the Exchange.
The strategy is similar to the Arena battle, but you can use supporters, so it should be a bit easier.
However, Tikilen herself might feel slightly stronger.

Common weaknesses include Bow and Light.
Since the mercenaries use "Physical Counter Stance," elemental attacks are essential in the first half of the battle.
For attackers and breakers, prepare characters with Bow, Lightning, or Light attacks.

Skilled Mercenary / Expert Mercenary Actions
Pay close attention to "Action Order." When they act quickly, they will use "Physical Counter Stance." Also, after a break, their action order will become the first, but "Physical Counter Stance" is not guaranteed then. Although not guaranteed, it's safer to assume it will be used and switch to elemental attacks. * "Physical Counter Stance" is a counterattack received when taking physical damage. Even if you attack with physical attacks, you will not be countered if you break them.- Skilled Mercenary
- Single-target Dark elemental attack・Physical Counter Stance・Area-of-effect Physical/Elemental Attack Up (after aura)
- Expert Mercenary
- Single-target Dark elemental attack・Physical Counter Stance・Area-of-effect Recovery・Shield Repair (restores Tikilen's shield)
Tips for Battling Tikilen
- Pre-Battle Preparation
- Since Critical Hits are required for Tikilen's "Last Stand" at the end, Bow/Fan-type weapons are recommended.
- Tyrant-series weapons are recommended as they increase Critical chance.
- Set abilities that provide Critical buffs or guarantee Critical Hits.
- Armor should be balanced, as elemental attacks are central, but area-of-effect physical attacks also deal high damage.
- Since it will be a long battle, SP recovery accessories are essential. Also, equip Critical Up for breakers.
- Battle Start
- * On the first turn, attacks may concentrate and defeat one character. In such cases, it's safer to restart.
- Defeat the companions first. It's easier to defeat the Skilled Mercenary first.
- Maintain debuffs, buffs, and auto-recovery. Debuffing Tikilen is particularly effective. Using Anti-Attack on companions also helps stabilize the fight.
- Pay attention to the companions' action order. When they move first, they will use "Physical Counter Stance," so elemental attacks are recommended. After a break, it's not guaranteed, but they may still use "Physical Counter Stance," so elemental attacks are recommended.
- Tanking tactics can be effective, but be careful as characters can easily die from multi-hit attacks.
- Tikilen's HP Below Half
- Similar to the first half, maintain debuffs, buffs, and auto-recovery. Debuffing Tikilen is particularly effective.
- Tikilen Uses Last Stand
- Attacks other than Critical Hits are nullified. Use Critical Up buffs to increase critical hit rate, or use guaranteed critical hit skills from characters like H'aanit to reduce the shield.
- Breaking her shield will revert her to normal.
Recommended Supporters for the Tikilen Battle
You can bring supporters to the NPC Tikilen battle. To ensure a more reliable break when "Last Stand" nullifies all but Critical Hits, I've chosen supporters focused on breaking.| Name (Town) | Support Skill | Location |
