Octopath Traveler: CotC - Veteran Gear Locations and Strategy Guide
This is strategy information for Octopath Traveler: Champions of the Continent.
With the addition of enhanced weapons that use Veteran Gear as materials, multiple pieces of Veteran Gear are now required.
I'd like to summarize each strategy, also as a personal memo. By the way, the first piece is always obtained through the 'Win Over' interaction.
If you want multiple pieces, you can defeat the NPC using the 'Entice' interaction command, which has a low chance of dropping the gear.
The characteristics listed are skills that NPCs will use when their HP drops to roughly half or below. Be careful, as counter effects like '〜Counter' (e.g., Physical Counter) can wipe out your party even at high levels if they trigger when the opponent acts first, such as after a Break. Conversely, by dealing with them properly and attacking, the NPC will use that skill to end their turn, making the strategy easier. By the way, counter-type skills like '〜Counter' will not trigger a counterattack if the NPC is broken. 'Instant Speed' can lead to a party wipe from subsequent attacks if your damage output is low. However, I believe it won't be a problem if you can consistently Break them.
Note: If an NPC appears but you cannot use interaction commands, please complete the 'Advanced Hunt Request' for that town.

Breaker Character Selection
・Does not die from the Veteran NPC's first attack ・Can act faster than the Veteran NPC ・Can reduce Break points by 8 or more in one turn with four characters' attacks As long as the above conditions are met, 3-star or 4-star characters are fine. The minimum requirement is at least two consecutive attacks per character, so if you have someone with three consecutive attacks, it makes meeting the count easier. Some Veteran NPCs use strong skills from the start, but not every time. If you're tackling them at low levels, it's a good idea to try a few times.Attacker
・Characters with high attack power above all else ・Even better if they can exploit weaknesses ・Some durability, as they will take hits after a Break For these, exploiting weaknesses isn't strictly necessary, so I recommend characters with high-level, high-power skills. While not high-power, I recommend characters with status ailment attacks like paralysis (e.g., Gilderoy). At lower levels, paralysis is very useful as it creates many opportunities to waste the opponent's turns.Actual Attack Simulation
