The Terminids, an infestation spreading across the galaxy. Their overwhelming numbers and formidable large individuals are a nightmare for many Helldivers. However, every enemy has a weakness. This article provides a comprehensive Terminid strategy guide for all soldiers, from rookie divers to seasoned veterans. We cover each species' armor, weak points, and the most effective weapons and Stratagems. Wield this knowledge and spread Managed Democracy to every corner of the universe!

Terminid Basics: Armor and Elemental Weaknesses

To gain an advantage in combat against Terminids, it is essential to first understand their fundamental characteristics. Terminids are insectoid aliens, and many are covered in an exoskeleton, or "armor." This armor is broadly categorized into three types: "light armor," "medium armor," and "heavy armor."

Standard primary weapons (such as assault rifles) are generally only effective in dealing damage to lightly armored enemies. Against enemies with medium armor or heavier, shots will ricochet, and no damage will be dealt. Therefore, you must use support weapons like the "Autocannon" or "Railgun," or powerful Stratagems such as the "Eagle 500kg Bomb," to either destroy their armor or accurately target unarmored weak points.

Furthermore, a major characteristic of Terminids as a whole is their weakness to fire-based attacks. The "FLAM-40 Flamethrower," "Eagle Napalm Strike," and "Incendiary Grenades" are highly effective for clearing hordes and as a continuous damage source against large individuals. Incorporating this equipment into your squad can significantly turn the tide of battle in your favor.

[Small & Medium] Terminid Weaknesses and Countermeasures

Small and medium Terminids are the most frequently encountered enemies on the battlefield. While individually weak, they pose a significant threat in large swarms. Understand the characteristics of each species to eliminate them quickly and efficiently.

Scavenger / Warrior / Hunter

These are the most basic Terminids, but they become extremely dangerous when swarming. Hunters, in particular, are troublesome enemies with their leaping surprise attacks and slowing effect.

  • Appearance: Small insectoid. Warriors are slightly larger than Scavengers, while Hunters are slender and characterized by rapid movement.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Hunter's leaping attack slows players, leading to encirclement by other enemies. Warrior's melee attacks are also not to be underestimated.
  • Weak Points: Their entire body is covered in light armor, but the head is a particular weak point.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
Weapons with high fire rate or area-of-effect capabilities, such as Machine Guns or the Breaker shotgun, are effective. Clearing entire swarms with "Eagle Napalm Strike" or "Eagle Cluster Bomb" is the most efficient method.

Hive Guard

These enemies possess medium armor and act as a shield, deflecting frontal attacks. They are individuals that the developers are closely monitoring, with recent updates adjusting their armor values.

  • Appearance: A tank-like appearance, with thick carapace covering its head and upper body.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Nearly nullifies frontal gunfire while approaching to unleash melee attacks.
  • Weak Points: The unarmored sides and rear abdomen. Exposed parts when staggered by explosives are also weak points.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
Stagger them with "Impact Grenades" or flank them to target their weaknesses. The explosive effect of the "Autocannon" and the "Grenade Launcher" are also effective.

Brood Commander

These are commander individuals capable of buffing nearby Terminids and calling in reinforcements. They should be prioritized for elimination as soon as they are spotted.

  • Appearance: Larger than other Warrior types, with a distinctive head. May emit a fog-like pheromone.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Roars to summon Terminid reinforcements. If left unchecked, you will quickly be surrounded.
  • Weak Points: The head is a major weak point. Although it has medium armor, it can be defeated relatively easily with precise shots.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
Sniping the head from a distance with an "Anti-Materiel Rifle" or "Autocannon" is the safest and most reliable method. If they get close, quickly destroy their head with a shotgun or similar weapon.

Stalker

These are extremely troublesome assassins that vanish with optical camouflage and approach at high speed. If Stalkers are present in a mission area, a "Stalker Lair" will always be nearby.

  • Appearance: White, slender body with mantis-like arms. Conceals itself with semi-transparent optical camouflage.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Disappears to flank or get behind you, attacking with powerful melee strikes and a tongue that causes knockdown.
  • Weak Points: Its health is not particularly high, so its entire body can be considered a weak point. Landing hits to stagger it is crucial.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
The fundamental solution is to destroy the "Stalker Lair." Once the lair is destroyed, no more Stalkers will appear. Against Stalkers themselves, using "Stun Grenades" to immobilize them or deploying a "Gatling Sentry" to detect and engage them is effective.

Spewer Types (Bile Spewer / Nursing Spewer)

These cannon-like enemies spew high-damage acid or bile from a distance. Their abdominal sac is their most distinctive feature and their biggest weakness.

  • Appearance: A caterpillar-like appearance with a massive green (Bile) or orange (Nursing) abdomen.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Long-range attacks with acid/bile that follows a high arc. Direct hits cause significant damage and reduce movement speed.
  • Weak Points: The enormous abdominal sac. Destroying it causes a large explosion, not only defeating the Spewer but also damaging surrounding enemies.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
Targeting the abdominal sac with an "Autocannon" or "Grenade Launcher" is the most efficient method. It can be detonated in just a few shots. Primary weapons can also destroy the sac, but it requires a certain number of rounds.

[Large] Terminid Weaknesses and Countermeasures

The greatest threat in Terminid combat comes from large individuals. Without appropriate equipment and teamwork, squad annihilation is inevitable. Learn the correct countermeasures and face them calmly.

Charger

With its thick heavy armor and overwhelming charge, the Charger is a major obstacle in Terminid combat, trampling Helldiver ranks. Frontal attacks are mostly ineffective.

  • Appearance: A giant beetle-like creature, its entire body covered in black heavy armor.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Charges directly at Helldivers. A direct hit can cause instant death-level damage and knockback.
  • Weak Points: The heavy-armored head, the exposed orange flesh after breaking the leg armor, and the unarmored rear abdomen.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
Multiple countermeasures exist. The most common method is to strip the leg armor with weapons like the "Disposable Anti-Tank," "Recoilless Rifle," or "Autocannon," then focus fire on the exposed weak points with primary weapons. Furthermore, narrowly dodging its charge and attacking its undefended rear abdomen is highly effective. Landing well-placed shots from a "Railgun" to the head can also defeat it.

Bile Titan

Boasting one of the largest sizes in the game, this is truly a "walking fortress." With overwhelming health and destructive capabilities, its presence brings despair to the battlefield.

  • Appearance: A colossal spider-like creature with long legs and a massive abdomen.
  • Dangerous Attack Patterns: Spreads lethal acid over a wide area from its mouth. Its massive leg stomps also have instant-kill-level power.
  • Weak Points: The head, and the green sac on its abdomen that becomes exposed when it spews acid.

[Effective Weapons & Stratagems]
To face a Bile Titan, you must concentrate your squad's strongest firepower. A direct hit to the head from an "Orbital Railcannon Strike" has the potential to defeat it in one hit, making it the most effective Stratagem. The "Eagle 500kg Bomb" is also effective as a secondary option, but requires practice for accurate hits. Lock-on attacks with the "Spear" or concentrated fire on the head with a "Railgun" are also effective tactics. Destroying the abdominal acid sac can neutralize its acid attack, but note that this alone will not defeat it.

Recommended Builds and Strategies for Terminid Combat

To simultaneously handle Terminid swarms and large individuals, clear role assignments within the team are crucial.

It is ideal to clearly separate roles into anti-horde (area-of-effect) specialists and anti-heavy (armor-penetrating) specialists.
For example, one person might use a "Flamethrower" and "Eagle Napalm Strike" to incinerate incoming small swarms, while another prepares an "Autocannon" or "Railgun" for Chargers and Bile Titans. Such coordination is extremely powerful.

Recently, special mutated strains called "Spore Burst" have also been confirmed. When these are defeated, they release spores that increase the movement speed of nearby Terminids, but they do not release spores if defeated by gas or fire. This further highlights the importance of fire-based weapons.

For Stratagem combinations, the following shine particularly brightly in Terminid combat:

  • Eagle Napalm Strike: Burns a wide area for an extended period, halting enemy advances.
  • Orbital Railcannon Strike: The trump card for reliably eliminating the most troublesome large individuals.
  • Autocannon Sentry: Capable of engaging up to medium-armored enemies, highly reliable for defensive missions and retreats.
  • Shield Generator Pack: Protects against Hunter ambushes and Spewer acid, dramatically increasing survivability.

Summary

Terminids are fearsome enemies, but they are by no means invincible. By understanding each species' weaknesses and effective countermeasures, and by coordinating with your team to deploy appropriate weapons and Stratagems, you can overcome any challenging situation. Utilize the knowledge gained from this article, seize victory with your comrades, and spread the light of Managed Democracy across the galaxy. Good luck, Helldiver!
