Armored Core 6: Defeating IBIS Series CEL240 & Recommended Assembly

SHAREXFacebookLINE

ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON does not have a "season" system. According to official information, the latest regulation is Ver. 1.09. This guide is based on current information.

In the depths of Planet Rubicon 3, just before reaching the accumulated Coral, the "IBIS Series CEL240," the strongest guardian, awaits Ravens. Its overwhelming mobility and fierce Coral weapon barrage stand as a major wall in Chapter 4 for many players. However, by understanding the correct strategy and Assembly / Build, defeating this formidable foe is by no means impossible. This article thoroughly explains the tactics and recommended parts to stably overcome CEL240, based on the latest regulation Ver. 1.09 environment.

Basic Information on Boss "IBIS Series CEL240"

First, let's understand the basic information of the enemy you're facing. CEL240 appears in the final mission of Chapter 4 and is a special boss with two forms.

Boss NameIBIS Series CEL240
Appearance MissionChapter 4 "Reach the Accumulated Coral"
AP (Armor Points) (Estimated)Phase 1: Approx. 47,000 / Phase 2: Approx. 38,000

CEL240 constantly flies at high speed through the air, frequently using attacks that are difficult to evade. The key to victory boils down to one point: how to parry the enemy's attacks while accumulating ACS Load to induce a "stagger" state. A staggered enemy presents a significant damage opportunity, so unleashing maximum firepower during this window is the shortest path to victory.

Recommended Assembly / Build for CEL240 (Ver. 1.09 Compatible)

To counter CEL240's high mobility and efficiently induce stagger, your Assembly / Build is extremely important. Here, we introduce the "Dual Gatling, Dual Stagger Needle" configuration, which is supported by many players and has consistent reports of stable clears.

  1. R-ARM UNIT / L-ARM UNIT: DF-GA-08 HU-BEN (Gatling Gun)
This is your primary weapon for sustained damage and impact accumulation. It's an excellent damage source, especially against staggered opponents. Be mindful of overheating and aim to keep firing continuously.
  2. R-BACK UNIT / L-BACK UNIT: VE-60SNA (Stagger Needle Launcher)
This high-impact weapon is central to this Assembly / Build. A single shot significantly accumulates the enemy's ACS Load, initiating a stagger. While there's a drawback of momentary immobility upon firing, tank legs allow you to fire while moving. Aim to land these shots precisely after the enemy's attack recovery.
  3. HEAD / CORE / ARMS
Heavyweight parts that ensure AP (Armor Points), defensive performance, and Load / Carrying Capacity are recommended. For example, for core parts, choose something with high AP (Armor Points) and stability, such as "DF-BD-08 TIAN-QIANG."
  4. LEGS: LG-022T BORNEMISSZA (Tank) or DF-LG-08 TIAN-QIANG (Heavy Bipedal)
If stability is your priority, tank legs "BORNEMISSZA" are ideal. They boast high AP (Armor Points) and a high Load / Carrying Capacity limit, with the biggest advantage being the ability to move while aiming the Stagger Needle Launcher. On the other hand, if evasion is a priority, heavy bipedal legs "TIAN-QIANG" are also a valid option. They make Quick Boost (QB) evasion easier, but be cautious of immobility when firing the Stagger Needle.
  5. BOOSTER / FCS / GENERATOR
For FCS, "FCS-G2/P05," which has high close-range assist performance, is recommended. For the Generator, "VP-20D" or similar, which offers a good balance of EN capacity and supply, will be easy to handle.
  6. EXPANSION: Pulse Armor
This is highly effective as insurance to withstand the fierce attacks of Phase 2. Using it in conjunction with hard-to-evade attacks can significantly reduce incoming damage.

Phase-Specific Tactics and Countermeasures for Each Attack Pattern

Once you've assembled your recommended parts, it's time for practical combat tactics. CEL240's attack patterns change between Phase 1 and Phase 2, so be mindful of the appropriate countermeasures for each.

Phase 1: Precisely Aim for Stagger

Immediately after the battle begins, CEL240 will remain still for a short period. This is an excellent opportunity, so fire both shoulder "VE-60SNA" units to deal significant impact. Afterward, maintain a close to medium distance from the enemy and move by circling around it. Most of the enemy's attacks can be evaded with a lateral Quick Boost (QB). Don't miss the recovery frames after the enemy unleashes large attacks, such as laser sweeps or blade attacks, and hit them with the Stagger Needle Launcher. Once it's in a staggered state, rapidly deplete its AP (Armor Points) with both arm Gatling Guns "DF-GA-08 HU-BEN." By repeating this cycle, Phase 1 can be overcome relatively stably.

Phase 2: Withstand the Onslaught and Seize Victory

Upon defeating Phase 1, CEL240 absorbs Coral, revives, and transitions into Phase 2. From this point, attacks intensify further, requiring more cautious maneuvering. While the basic tactics remain the same as Phase 1, additional attacks require particular attention.

  • Coral Blade Frenzy: A melee attack that repeatedly charges at high speed, tracing trajectories like afterimages. Since it's extremely difficult to evade, the safest countermeasure is to greatly increase distance or activate the "Pulse Armor" expansion to nullify damage.
  • Wide-Range Coral Slash: Launches giant red slashes. Its wind-up is easy to recognize, so time your Quick Boost (QB) to evade.
  • Coral Bit Ejection: Deploys numerous bits that fire lasers from all directions. It's crucial to focus solely on evasion and avoid attempting to attack unnecessarily.

Phase 2 is the main event until its AP (Armor Points) is depleted. Don't rush; discern the enemy's attack patterns and prioritize evasion. Opportunities to induce stagger will surely arise, so the concentration to unleash maximum firepower in that fleeting moment is the key to victory.

Summary

The "IBIS Series CEL240" is one of the toughest foes in ARMORED CORE VI, but it is by no means an unfair boss. The key points for defeating it are summarized in the following three aspects:

  1. He who controls stagger controls the battle: Thoroughly apply the basic tactic of breaking its stance with the high-impact "VE-60SNA" and following up with "DF-GA-08 HU-BEN."
  2. Evasion-first positioning: The enemy's attacks are fierce. Especially in Phase 2, it's crucial to have the courage to prioritize evasion and create time to do so, rather than forcing an attack.
  3. Building an optimal Assembly / Build: The heavyweight Assembly / Build introduced in this article is highly recommended for its stability. You may also fine-tune it to suit your own playstyle.

By challenging it repeatedly and learning the enemy's movements, you will surely find a breakthrough. We hope this article serves as an aid to Ravens aiming for the depths of Rubicon.
