AC6: G1 Michigan Strategy - Redgun Interception Tactics & Assembly
ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON has no season system. The latest regulation is Ver. 1.07.2. This article is based on information current as of June 5, 2026.
In ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, the "Intercept the Redguns" mission is a wall many mercenaries encounter. Waiting there are Redguns Commander "G1 Michigan" and his over 50 MT units. This mission isn't just a boss fight; it's a war of attrition where overwhelming numbers will quickly deplete your AP (Armor Points) if your assembly is inadequate. However, with the right machine configuration and strategy, it's possible to conquer this battle of attrition. This article provides a thorough guide to defeating G1 Michigan, updated for the latest Ver. 1.07.2 regulations.
| Boss Name | G1 Michigan |

| Mission Appearance | Chapter 3 "Intercept the Redguns" |
| Durability | Very High |
G1 Michigan Battle Features and Strategy Points
"Intercept the Redguns" is less a pure boss battle and more an "annihilation mission." Beyond fighting G1 Michigan himself, dealing with the waves of MT units that appear as reinforcements is key to victory. The strategy can be broadly divided into two approaches: a "stable approach" where you eliminate all surrounding MTs before engaging Michigan one-on-one, and a "quick decisive battle" where you ignore MTs and rapidly defeat Michigan himself. The optimal assembly will vary significantly depending on which strategy you choose.
The most crucial aspect of this mission is minimizing damage taken. Since it's impossible to completely evade the barrage of bullets coming from all directions, it's essential to constantly utilize the scattered building debris in the center and outer edges of the stage as cover. Systematically reducing enemy numbers while breaking their line of sight is the shortest path to victory.
G1 Michigan and MT Unit Attack Patterns and Countermeasures
G1 Michigan (LIGERTAIL) Attacks
Michigan's heavily armored quad-legged Armored Core (AC), "LIGERTAIL," boasts high firepower and durability. Understand its attack patterns to respond effectively.
- Grenade Launcher: Area-of-effect attack from shoulder-mounted grenades. A large explosion occurs at the impact point. You're particularly vulnerable while airborne; even if you avoid a direct hit, you'll take damage and impact from the blast. Hide behind buildings or use Quick Boost (QB) to move out of the range.
- Missile Salvo: Fires multiple missiles simultaneously. Can be dodged by combining horizontal Quick Boost (QB) with ascents and descents. Hiding behind cover is the safest countermeasure.
- Gatling Gun / Rifle Barrage: Continuous fire from arm-mounted weapons. While not extremely powerful, neglecting to evade will accumulate ACS gauge, increasing the risk of stagger. Keep moving constantly to minimize damage taken.
Threat of Accompanying MT Units
More troublesome than Michigan himself are the MT units deployed to protect him. Their threat level varies by type, so you need to prioritize their elimination.
- Transport Helicopter: The source of endless MT unit drops. Destroy this with the highest priority. Downing it early with missiles or area-of-effect weapons will significantly suppress enemy reinforcements.
- Quad-legged MT: Possesses high mobility and firepower, actively closing the distance. Extremely dangerous if left unchecked, so prioritize eliminating them after the helicopters.
- Turret MT: Stationary turrets positioned in high places, attacking from long range. While their direct threat is low, they will slowly chip away at your AP (Armor Points). Destroy them quickly once you have a clear line of sight for safety.
- Standard MT: The most numerous enemy. Each unit has low firepower, but their collective numbers pose a significant threat. Efficiently eliminate them by catching them in the blast radius of plasma weapons or grenades.
G1 Michigan Strategy Recommended Assemblies / Builds
In the Ver. 1.07.2 environment, suitability for a war of attrition against numerous enemies is key to assembly construction. Here, we introduce two representative builds based on different tactics.
【Stable Strategy】Heavy Tank Build with Dual Plasma Rifles
This build prioritizes the eradication of MT units to proceed safely. With high AP (Armor Points) and defensive capabilities from tank legs, it tolerates some hits while sweeping away enemies with area attacks.
- R-ARM / L-ARM: Vvc-760PR (Plasma Rifle)
- R-BACK / L-BACK: Vvc-70VPM (Plasma Missile) or BML-G1/P20MLT-04 (4-cell Missile)
- HEAD: High Defensive Performance
- CORE: VE-40A
- ARMS: AR-012 MELANDER C3
- LEGS: LG-022T BORNEMISSZA (Tank)
- BOOSTER: - (Not required for Tank legs)
- FCS: FCS-G2/P05 or FCS-G2/P10SLT
- GENERATOR: VP-20D
For tactics, first shoot down the transport helicopters with plasma missiles. Then, use the plasma rifles in both hands to mow down the MT units. Plasma blasts can hit multiple enemies, efficiently reducing their numbers. Once most MTs are cleared, transition to fighting Michigan himself. The plasma rifle's charged shots excel in direct hit damage and area damage, also effectively building Michigan's ACS gauge. The overwhelming durability of tank legs is its greatest strength, allowing you to continue attacking without worrying too much about minor damage.
【Rush Strategy】Heavy Bipedal / Quad-legged Build with Dual Gatlings & Dual Grenades
This high-firepower build aims for a quick defeat of Michigan himself, largely ignoring the MTs. It uses overwhelming impact force to continuously stagger Michigan, ending the battle swiftly.
- R-ARM / L-ARM: DF-GA-08 HU-BEN (Gatling Gun)
- R-BACK / L-BACK: SONGBIRDS (Grenade Cannon) or EARSHOT
- HEAD: HD-033M VERRILL
- CORE: VE-40A
- ARMS: AC-3000 WRECKER
- LEGS: LG-033M VERRILL (Quad-legged) or VE-42A (Heavy Bipedal)
- BOOSTER: ALULA/21E
- FCS: FCS-G2/P05
- GENERATOR: VP-20D
From the start, approach Michigan and continuously fire both gatling guns and shoulder grenades. The immense barrage will quickly max out his ACS gauge, leading to a stagger state. During stagger, reload all weapons, then immediately after he recovers, hit him with attacks again to continuously deal damage one-sidedly. While handling surrounding MTs with grenade blasts, maintain your target on Michigan. This playstyle requires concentrating firepower while using cover to mitigate Michigan's attacks.
G1 Michigan Battle Tactics and Stagger Strategy
Utilize Cover as Your Lifeline
Regardless of the build you choose, utilizing cover is essential. The colossal building wreckage in the center of the stage serves as an excellent defensive barrier. Operate around it, and when enemy attacks intensify, quickly hide to regroup. Specifically, if Michigan shows a motion for firing powerful grenades or missiles, immediately retreating to cover will significantly impact your survival rate.
Burst Down from Stagger with Concentrated Fire
G1 Michigan is extremely tough, making it difficult to deal significant damage during normal states. The key to victory lies in how quickly you can achieve a stagger state. Efficiently accumulate his ACS gauge with weapons that have high impact, such as the gatling gun, shotgun "SG-027 ZIMMERMAN," and grenade cannon "SONGBIRDS."
Once he enters a stagger state, it's your chance to attack. Unleash all the firepower you have. If you have a melee weapon equipped, use Assault Boost (AB) to close in and land a maximum-power attack for significant damage. After recovering from stagger, ideally, you should immediately begin applying impact again before Michigan can fully regain his posture, aiming for a second and third stagger.
Summary
"Intercept the Redguns," where G1 Michigan and his Redgun forces await, is a mission that tests your overall capabilities in Armored Core (AC) 6. Key points for strategy are as follows:
- Understand that it's a war of attrition against over 50 MT units.
- Choose a strategy that suits your build: "MT eradication priority" or "boss rush."
- Enhance survival rate with high-durability, high-load legs like tank or quad-legged parts.
- Maximize the use of stage buildings as cover to manage damage taken.
- Prioritize eliminating high-threat enemies like transport helicopters and quad-legged MTs.
- Deal burst damage to Michigan himself only after achieving a stagger.
With many parts having been adjusted since the initial regulations, previous strategies may not always be effective. Refer to the Ver. 1.07.2 environment assemblies and tactics introduced in this article to formulate your own strategy and overcome the wall presented by the commander.
